i have replaced the roundel on my bonnet, but now going to do it on the boot, i see that the boot one is also held on with double sided tape, does the roundel for the boot still have the two prongs that go into the grommets in the bodywork ?
Thanks a lot guys

I'm having the same problem. Read above, people have used dental floss (mine broke 3 times...) and nylon strapping. Pretty sure I have nothing similar. I got the suction cup tool for jlevi but that's not working on the front, only the rear which is pretty lame.

EDIT: So I used a business card and screwdriver since the credit card was to thick. Of course I rushed because the first several attempts didn't work and ended up braking one of the pins in there. Now I have to figure out a way to get all that shit out. Its 32* and now dark.

From now on just buy a new airbag cover and change it yourself. Pretty easy to do and the cover is only a little over $100.00

2011 roundel replacement

Just placed carbon fiber roundels throughout my 335i xdrive and wanted to share sizes as I had a difficult time finding the correct size, grommet fitment, etc. The front is the standard 82mm with black grommets. wheels were 65mm. and Trunk was 79mm with black grommets and 3M circumferentially around interior of roundel. Hope this helps someone out.

So to be clear for the steering wheel the best way is to just put the replacement over it? Correct?

The rear Roundels are the same, the pins are at 9 and 3 o'clock. 12 o'clock being the top. I use the dental floss method. I find it easiest to use about 4 long strands. "Floss them from the top or bottom into about the center of the Roundel. Again Pins are at 9 and 3 o'clock. Tie them in a know and then use a screwdriver as a handle to pull straight out on the roundel. The roundel will pull right out. Older ones I find it best to "Floss" both top and bottom before pulling the roundel out. Hope this helps

Business card and tape wrapped screw driver trick worked for me. Took about 2 minutes for each and no damage done.

Great thread! One question/problem: My rear roundel on my E93 had the grommets and double-sided tape. I know about getting the correct part (....52 vice ....51) but when I put it on, the top won't stay stuck. So now I have a little gap at the top. Hardly noticable but annoying to me since the original was flush. Any ideas? I thought about an additional glue...but am afraid to try anything for fear it might mar the paint/etc. I could pull it off and remove the grommets (so only the tape holds it on) but then it probably won't be centered perfectly and my OCD won't allow that. I just want it to stay on like the original! Any help appreciated...

Simple Roundel Removal Tip

As previously mentioned in this thread, but worth repeating:

Nylon shipping strap slides easily underneath the hood roundel, and is strong enough to lift out the old one without breaking.

Just look around the shipping department where you work, or grab one off a case of printer paper, a shipping pallet that's just arrived, or you can even go as far as to buy the ECS Tuning guy's "Roundel Removal Tool"
