Dinan High Flow Throttle Body

Cant seem to get a response on a very old thread, so I figured Id start a new one.

The Dinan Throttle Body... is it worth it? I know its pricey but will it yield some small gains? Obviously more air in is more power, but I wanted to get some feed back on it. this paired with an afe intake, scoops, and pbx. exhaust soon to come.

any feedback would be nice.

thanks.

Don't know too much about the Dinan Throttle body but what I do know is that if you ever consider a Throttle Body Spacer, the aFe one that we offer is a VERY popular seller. The moment we get stock they sell out immediately.

I've got the Dinan Throttle Body,Exhaust and Cold Air Intake. Got them all at the same time so it's hard to tell what the Throttle Body does by itself. However, I love the 3 together. Car runs and sounds great. Dinan says all 3 dyno @ +15HP and Dinan is typically conservative.

I saw the throttle body spacer at **********s, but thats only for the 335/turboed cars. They wont fit the NA cars.

However, thank you for the advice **********s. I Have bought my PBX and AFE intake from yall. I am looking at your RE Ikon right now.

Saint330i- I have the afe, and getting some sort of exhaust soon, like stated above, so you think all 3 would be around the same? plus the pbx and scoops. thanks for your input. was installation hard?

Is it possible to have the stock TB bored out a few mm and have a custom flap made? I did this on my show truck a few years back and it was really bad arse.

Install should be easy. If you look in the engine bay, you'll see where the manifold bolts to the throttle body. I don't know how throttle bolts to the block though. That shouldn't be too much of a problem though. The new one should just pop right in. It's a stock throttle that was bored out and has a new butterfly valve. Dinan includes instructions with all their parts but they aren't the best. Good luck.

I remember him saying something about that but never saw the dyno... big thing getting me is the price for sch a small gain.

It's gotta be crank. When you look at the S packages, they make references to the stock HP values from BMW.

Wasnt it "KSFrogman" ?

Im pretty sure he lost power on his 330 (what its actually made for)

the reason this wouldnt do much is that our throttle bodies are controlled by the computer, not our foot. so its always wide open, and then the computer regulates the flow through the valves.
so you can have a huge throttle body, and it wouldnt matter because the computer is still dictating the amount of air in the combustion chamber. and might even throw it off, for a loss of power...

Yea... The N52 doesn't really make that much power so there's not too much of a flow problem. If you were making something in the neighborhood of 350 hp this might make a difference. The bottleneck on the intake side on this engine seems to be the stock airbox but not by much. It's really hard to get any usefull HP out of the N52. You'd have to do the entire intake and exhaust (headers and cats included) with software to make use of them. Then maybe that throttle will be useful.

well thank yall for helping me out with this. ill stick with getting some exhaust system and hold off on the throttle body. although this is disappointing news, cause youd think more air in is more power... but not with this one.

Not trying to waste 400 bones on something that wont really help.

There is so much info on these forums man, I would get a full catback exhaust and delete the secondary cats, that will liven you up a little!
