how the heck are they shifting that fast.. especially the downshifts? Are they just stabbing the clutch and slamming the gearshift without lifting from the throttle? It would account for the sickening sound.. but that has to be horrible on the tranny.

Those aren't stock M3's, right? Did they add a turbo?

That M3 had a straight cut dog engagement gear box. After the initial launch he doesnt have to use a clutch to shift gears at full throttle, making the shift way faster than having to sync it with the clutch like you normally would have to. Those transmissions tend to have alot of gear wine which is what you heard in the video. that sound can be mistaken for some type of forced induction! Thats one of the most intoxicating race car sounds you can hear!!
