New to the Forums, and BMWs

I don't own one, but I've been looking to buy one. Right now, I have two Acuras but am missing the driving experience. My wife still loves her Acura, so I'm really looking to replace my car. I've been reading all about the 335s and M3s on here, and can say there is a healthy debate going on. I also learned about how to take European Delivery. Thanks for all the information so far, looking to learn more about Bimmers and hopefully get one soon.

The only thing I'm worried about versus Acura is the cost of maintenance for the Bimmer, especially for the M3. I'd love to hear anyone's experience if they've made a similar switch. thanks

P.S., is there a rule with not being able to PM until a certain number of posts? I tried looking to find out how to PM, no luck.

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on your decision to get a BMW. It would be a good idea to read the stickies attached to the forum, these will give you an idea of the reliability of different models of our cars, the nuisance factor, and the cost. Do not get discouraged - this forum is no different from other car forums, people usually post to complain about a trouble or to ask how to fix a problem. It is not so common to hear raves.

I don't think there are any cut and dried answers to your questions but I would say that regarding maintenance, the 50,000 mile comprehensive warranty basically means you will have no out of pocket expenses on a BMW except tires.

In the long run I doubt a BMW will be as reliable as an Acura and may be more expensive to service post-warranty. Also, the BMW, be it a 335 or M3 will be much more enjoyable to drive than your Acura's.

You just need to understand the cost of maintenance before going in thats all. Like they said, the reliability will be less than your Acuras, the costs will be higher, but for me the driving pleasure outweighs all of these issues and after my lease I will hand it in and get something else so I'm never really worrying about the cost post warranty.

Yea, I was considering getting the extended warranty to 100K...I hear brakes are expensive on these cars.

Brakes are not too bad if you do them yourself. Austin is a great town for a 335.

I just purchased an 07 335i and extended the warranty until 2015 or 100k...I wouldn't even consider purchasing a 335 or M3 without considering the cost of warranty, mine cost $3200 but it was $500 off since I purchased in the 30-39999mi bracket and as an incentive to get it now...
