DIY: Painting your exterior trim (without removing)
|

I have see the DIY on how to paint the exterior trim with removing it, and I didn't want to even attempt that, seeing how difficult it is to get the trim off and you can possibly mess it up getting it off. So I came up with a way to paint the trim while leaving it on the car and it came out awesome...

Did you ever end up coating it with polyurethane? If so, what kind? I want to coat mine with some but don't know how the poly will work on a latex enamel.

Just painted the trim today and looks great! Glad I did it. Used the exact same materials as listed and followed the instructions to the T. I'll post some pics up later (will look even better when i have my black grille in!). Thanks for the DIY

justin, you probably have too much paint on your roller... try using (considerably) less on your next coat and see if you have the same problem. dripping wasn't an issue for me

damn that looks really good I'm glad it turned out good. And I agree with them you must of had too much paint on the roller or went to fast when rolling on the paint.

Didn't go well at all. It was a fun Sunday project but I already stripped it due to chipping/tearing and applied vinyl.
