Sorry to be such a dope, but what are the advantages of doing this over just replacing the bulbs with the hyper white ones? Is it just color temp, or are they brighter as well? If I remember correctly the H8 bulbs can be had for something like $30 bucks. I really like the look of what you did, but it does look similar to just changing the bulbs. Obviously I am missing something that the picture doesn't convey. What's the difference? I am definitely changing them in the angel eyes, but didn't realize there was another option with the fogs. Clue me in!

Thanks,
Mr.F1

its all about personal preference, man....if you want to buy a $30 bulb, then go for it! i like the bright HID look. and there are many ppl in this forum who would agree that HID is better than regular xenon replacement bulbs.

I wasn't knocking it, in fact quite the opposite, I'm just not sure what you get for the extra $300. The color looks a lot whiter than the factory xenons. Is that the case? Don't know if I will ever have the chance to see them side by side, so I am look for somewhat of an objective comparison between the straight bulb swap and the full HID install. I get that you like the bright white look, but I am mainly looking for uniformity of color. Do you think I can get that from just replacing the four bulbs in the fogs and angels, or do I need to look into the HID's a bit further? I'd appreciate you guidance.

Wow those are bright, might be brighter than your HID headlights.

halogen bulbs just don't compare. HID bulbs are 2-3 times brighter than halogen bulbs and consume much less energy, thus producing less heat. they're pretty much a requirement on luxury/expensive cars now. well, that is until LED headlights come along. i believe the audi R8 will be the first production vehicle with full LED headlights.
