Anyone tried this installation on E90 LCI with a non M tech bumper?

I am removing the extenders from the License plate mount and just putting the two horizontal bars together at 90 degrees.

And I will have to drill the holes on the underside of the bumper I guess? No drill, but make cavities so the self tapping screw bites into the actual bumper. Correct?

Any inputs greatly appreciated. Thanks!

FYI Amazon has these for $7.10 in case anyone is having trouble finding an autozone. Picked up two yesterday.

I've had a lot of people PM me about the pics of my plate install from my old car (did the same to my new one). I thought I had deleted them but I just found the pics on my work computer. Anyway I uploaded the pics again.

Thinking about doing this on my new Pre-Lci Mtech Front bumper. Since I'm in NY and have to parallel park sometimes, you guys think this could crack the bumper where the tapping screws are mounted if a car backs into it?

I didn't read the whole thread, so pardon me if someone said this already.

What about a magnet? You've seen flat, flexible, business card sized fridge magnets, calendars, etc. The material is available in larger sizes. I don't know about thickness and magnetism. Make one the size of the license plate and install it on the backside of the bumper, (skin). Apply some felt on the back of the plate to prevent scratching. If it is strong enough it will hold the plate securely but allow removal.

No, it won't crack the bumper. If someone backs into the plate the screws will pull out of it and leave some oblong holes but it won't crack it. The bumper is very flexible. Also you can play with the hinge part so it's flush with the bumper face and you won't even have to worry about that.

I've heard a lot of people mention this but never seen anyone do it. I've removed my bumper cover before and it takes a good chunk of time and is a PIA. Furthermore my plates are aluminum so a magnet wouldn't work. Out of all the options I found this to be the simplest and most inexpensive one.

With an aluminum plate, you could put a magnet on both the bumper and the plate.

Don't need to bump up an old thread, but can those of you who have done this mod(if thats what you wanna call it) can you list the products needed

From what I understand you need

1. The bracket

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ntifier=761575

Avail from amazon as well -

http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Automotiv...7132862&sr=8-1

2. Black matte spray paint(optional)

3. Some duct tape for the back of the plate as to not scratch your bumper(can be substituted with double sided tape, or anything that offers protection?)

I'm not sure which screws but it looks like 4 8mms self screws or thumb screws w/ washers?

I got mine from a vendor on another forum. They're not a vendor on here so I can't post the name. They're located in Queens too.

Here's a video

Took me like an hour to get this on right. I only had a screw driver and the screws that came with the kit to make holes in the upper part of the middle grill. I'm definately going to have some blisters tomorrow but it looks good. Pics to follow

Well here is what I found out...those camera red light tickets are a very big revenue generator for the state, but if your car has no front license plate they cannot convict you.....soooooo step in these douche bags who start ticking people with no front license plate to reduce the amount of cars they need to let go because the red light camera catches their car without a front license plate!!!! Crazy huh....
There is a clause in Los Angeles that states a "RED LIGHT TICKET";taken with the cameras" gives you the option of paying the ticket. The payment is voluntary and YOU WONT be penalized if you DONT PAY.THE TICKET REGARDLESS OF PHOTO CLARITY ARE UNENFORCEABLE They claim that if you are a good citizen you will pay. I have my court trial for running a light tmrw. The Sheriff pulled me aside after my arraignment and told me what to say in court so i wont get into trouble YEA!
