N52 Supersprint Headers with 3" Custom Exhaust (Video)

Not E9x content but N52 based so thought I'd post here. I own Z4 3.0si coupe which has the same motor as the E90 330i. This is my track car so the goal was to gain power up top and shed weight. The result was Supersprint headers followed by a custom 3" mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust. The spacing underneath the Z4 is really tight so running your typical Borla or Magnaflow wasn't an option. I ended up choosing a Flowmaster Delta 40 which is about as small of a box you can get. To keep the noise levels in check for tracks that have dB limits I picked up a Vibrant resonator. Prior to the resonator the car was unbearably loud but the resonator really did a good job of taking off the edge. I can actually drive around town without worrying about getting ticketed, yet folks on the street will still turn heads to see what's coming down.

The car has a nice low deep rumble driving around town. In the upper rev range at higher speeds the exhaust outputs a higher tone. See vids below.

Dual tips for 3" pretty much don't exist. That one looks pretty good though, what is it?

Thanks, the 20% sale helped minimize wallet damage. Waiting for others to find agreeable date for Dyno Day

+1 and even if I found a single in dual out muffler it would've made the job unnecessarily complicated. Build was focused on performance with simplicity, similar to the Bimmerworld race exhaust and the custom builds by Vorshlag.

Exhaust tip is Pypes 6" stainless steel oval tip. Only sold in pairs but luckily found a buyer for the extra one.

Sounds great.

I should've been there with GVC last weekend to hear it for real. Damned work.

Did you have headers before? Did you notice a big difference coming out of the toe of the boot going up that damned hill?

Are Z4s geared different in the tranny than the e90? What rear end ratio are you running?

It was only my 2nd time at the Glen and to be honest my times were a bit slower because my 2 front shocks are badly in need of a rebuild and I'm back on street tires. However coming out of the esses the car seemed to pull harder for sure as I was hitting the back straight.

Z4 coupe has 3.46 ratio.

By the way I'll be back 2nd weekend of June with GVC. Let me know if you'll make it.

That was not fabricated but something I had purchased from Axiom. I was lucky to find that piece on the classifieds as it normally goes for $$$.

Thats the plan. Likely running with track masters 6-1 and 6-2. Never have done one of their events before so may just do one day to save some bucks and check it out.

I haven't been out since october, I've been torturing myself watching vids from last weekend like yours!
