Is Obama playing the race card?

Listen to this http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmi...0.html?showall

Now replace Obama with George Bush and him saying "Old people, white people, and white men who powered our victory in 2000 [to] stand together once again."

I can just see the liberal media having a field day with Bush calling for his impeachment but with Obama not a peep from the media.

Why does he have to single out a race or group of people? Why can't he just say we all need to go and vote?

I would expect the President to avoid saying things like this, even if society has already accepted the double standard. Just like Affirmative Action, if you keep driving the wedge between the races, instead of treating every one as simply "An American", it can only hurt progress.

While I'd generally agree with you, the demographics he mentioned tend to have pretty low voter rates, except in the last election. He'd like to see those demographics continue voting.
