Good video! What is the verdict on performance? 335d or 335i?
I am waiting for the Sport model to be released in the UK circa March 07.

The verdict is that the 335i is the best engine but the 335d is also very good and it is cheaper to run both in fuel and servicing. Further they are saying that the diesel is Amazing for autobane.

They eventually sway to the 335i placing it first. They think it is very slightly more nimble and like the sound.
As a "Sport Coupé" the 335i is a cracker but, as the Video shows, the 335D is a very, very close equivalent for sporty involvement (335D +ve: torque, Economy -ve: A little handling finesse lost in extremis, sporty soundtrack). There was not so much bewtween flat out acceleration (335i is slightly faster in acceleration and shorter at braking) - it was more in the way that the power and torque is delivered. It all boils down to personal preference. If you want to hoon around at high revs with a lovely soundtrack get the 335i, want to ride a wave of monster torque in surreal calm with stunning economy get the 335D. Doubt most people will ever drive either on the roads like that, no matter what they tell you. ![]() I'm collecting my E92 335D this Tuesday. So can give objective feedback soon.D.

Dave - look forward to the feedback on the 335d. In the "real world" I think the 335d is likely to be the better car. In terms of differences in handling I agree most will never be able to tell the difference...most will never be able to find the handling limits of a Mk1 Escort!! Bet you have some fun in that! Brings back memories of my youth with a Mk2 Escort (Coupe!!) blasting around back roads in Aberdeenshire...that was when 90BHP was "quick" and the recently released XR3 (carb not injection) at 105BHP was positively rapid!!

How come the cars in the video have sport package steering paddles but non-sport wheels?

The 335i and 335D are fitted with Sport Suspension (about 25mm lower), the wheels as seen in the Video, and the multi-function sport wheel as standard in Switzerland.
