Fuel Prices

Cost me 70 to fill the tank on my 335d this morning, that was pretty much from empty

That was at 119.9p a litre.

I got 415miles for that money, thats 17p a mile. (OBC shows 32.8mpg)

Are oil prices set to settle down in the future, I know this price level isn't just down to the 1p tax rise on fuel.

So glad I went for the 335d rather than the 335i now,

If it makes you feel any better, I got 150 miles, 12.8mpg and 47p/mile on my last tank of 67.76 @ 1.309/litre

But that did include 12 laps of the Top Gear Track

as everyone knows mpg depends on driving style, driving routes etc. Mine is mainly A roads and inner city.

Note, even if I get 32.8mpg its still better than 30mpg

Plus i've remapped mine to 340bhp

If it did 220 miles on the motorway and kept to around 80 mph I'd see 32.5 mpg as a recent trip to wales confirmed.

Your probably right I refrained from entering tripple figures though, was probably the A12 and surrounding country lanes that didn't help

Funny how last time (12 months ago - ish) there was public outcry, huge media coverage and strikes mentioned etc.

This time it has slowly crept up with hardly any press coverage ........ almost as if the Government have had an official media ban on Fuel Prices !!

Ah yes, when I vist the outlaws in Sudbury, I depart the A12 and drive along the A134 I think, and that results in an mpg drop.

I got nearly 69 in mine on Sunday at 1.25.9 (it's 1.26 ffs) for V power. Fuel gauge dropped quite a bit already.

I do about 11k p.a. so a car would have to constantly do high forties/low fifties to the gallon to make any real difference to running costs regarding fuel. Can't be arsed to worry about it, I chose the car and the noise and everything else far outweighs mpg imo.

All the tax on fuel that pisses me off - not what mpg my car returns. I knew that when I bought the bugger. What's wrong with 19 mpg on the daily commute out of a N/A V8 weighing over 1700kg. Engine's getting quicker I'm sure - unreal!

I worked out mine as 23mpg which also equated 23ppm. Not bad for a NA 4.5l

I wonder when we'll hit 100 a tank? Won't be that long I expect

I reckon we might start seeing the Electric car pick up in popularity over the next 5 - 10 years or so.......I can feel the tide building.

Absolutely.

There's a double whammy for people like me who use their car for work (when receiving an allowance in lieu of a company car); the amount you can claim back from the government hasn't risen for a few years now, whilst prices at the pumps have rocketed.

Oil prices are based on US$
Fuel duty is based on a % age

Government increases the duty on fuel so price goes up, which in turn increases the VAT yield
Sterling goes down in value against the Dollar so automatically a litre of fuel costs more, so prices go up, increasing both duty and VAT.

The Government needs this money and a whole, whole lot besides to fund the services and benefits they provide and which people vote for.

Its a very clever scheme. Tax people into poverty, making them dependent on Government handouts. Its one way to stay in power
