Personally I wouldn't get the badge.
1. I would not be too happy if another 335 with a JB3 blows by me and I can't keep up.

2. Unless you race there is not point to doing all those mods.

If you have money to blow then go right ahead

Keep in mind you don't get to keep your BMW warranty when you go with the Dinan. The original warranty gets replaced by Dinan's due to the fact that you modified your car. Their warranty is very limited in comparison to BMW's original bumper to bumper 50k mile warranty.

I should add that to my car even though I only have the flash...

oh wait, the Dinan badge is fairly gay

IMHO, the beauty with the Dinan and other tunes is that the car looks and seems perfectly normal until you really step on it. Adding that Dinan badge to the back negates this....

ouch two bad decisions... at the very least don't get the badge. like someone else said: a dinan badge is just telling other 335's that you're an easy target

This is not correct. You do keep your BMW warranty, but BMW might deny a particular warranty claim if they decide it was caused by the Dinan parts. In that case, Dinan pays for it.

or dinan then refuses and says BMW should pay. then you're in and endless spiral of denial claims. I personally would never feel safe with a dinan warranty.

What "supporting mods" are you referring to? Stage 3 requires their intercooler and oil cooler upgrades; Stage 2 only requires that you have a factory oil cooler.

This is my 3rd 3-series with Dinan mods...very satisified with the performance and no worries with dealer visits. I know that there are other tunes out there that might provide more performance, but I'm not into gambling with my warranty or "impressing my friends". Beides that, I expect that Dinan's well-engineered but milder tune, which includes things like increasing water pump speed at high boost/rpm, will result in more engine longevity. To each their own, though.

As for the badge...it's more expensive to get these days, but the mods are very well-engineered and thoroughly tested, particularly their suspension pieces. Dinan's racing engines and suspension work really well, along with those from Turner Motorsports and the others whose logos you see on cars competing in races like Daytona, Le Mans, and other major competitions. It's up to you to determine which is more important - the badge or the components that entitle you to the badge.

BMW WILL deny any claim related to your powertrain if you have the Dinan flash. "Might" is giving anyone interest false hope.

In that case Dinan is responsible for the warranty claim which they are supposed to pay for once they battle it out with BMW. In the end nobody is going to want to pay for warranty work and the end user is going to be left out in the cold.

I remember the days where authentic Dinan badges would go for a hefty amount on eBay. Ahhhh, memories.

imo $4000 is more expensive than "possibly" having to remove a tune (that may take 30 minutes).

Plus, $4000 in expensive to just get beat by JB and Vishnu powered cars.

As far as the badges go. Personal preference. If you like and want them that is all that counts.

Personally, I am a debadge kind of person. Like the sleeper effect.

I do look for cars to play sporting Dinan badges though.....

Result usually ends like this from the Dinan car....

Btw, dyno'ed 252 torque / 245 HP on a Mustang Dyno today. Ugh. I might not even be above 300 after the tune. Oh well, better than 245.
Well its only the gain that really matters and now you have a baseline.
You would have thrown a fit had you only dyno'ed afterwards showing only 299 whp <-- estimated 54 whp gain.

If you really want the badge, buy it off ebay once you have the tune, so you're not a true poser haha. It's true, the Jb3 and procede will get you a lot more power, but there's a reason they void your warranty, and dinan doesn't. All in what you want.

^^On a serious note.... it's your money do what makes you happy. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion. I wish I had the money to toss around to have a Dinan modified car, but for my budget it makes more sense to go with a JB3 or Procede v4 with supporting mods to get the performance I'm looking for at a reasonable price (minus the badge! Hahaha!).

Depends on the dealership and how cool they are with Dinan.

Really wrong. Do you have even a modicum of knowledge about the Dinan/BMW relationship?

Here's my perspective - I wouldn't put a piggyback on my car *if you paid me*. Seriously, compare the number of 'issue' threads with the piggybacks over the last 3 years vs. the Dinan tunes and get back to me.

Not to mention the little game of Russian roulette you have to play when you get your take your piggified N54 in for service, or God forbid, try to trade it in. Not having any sort of a warranty does wonders for resale.

For the OP - go the Dinan route if you have a Dinan supportive dealer. My experience is that warranty issues are absolutely transparent. And screw the badge; 'stealth' is the new badge.
