it was a personal joke about holdens back in year 11... and i sorta just ended up with the nickname astra from then.. i used it for my username here, cos when i signed up, i didn't have a bmw

yeah actually ok i'm not THAT against aussie muscle, i like the idea of big engines and rear wheel drive
i also like the idea of having a car that is powerful enough to smoke the bags or whip its ass out of a corner once in a while

the only thing i don't like abt those cars is that they're heavy, they're gas guzzlers and don't handle - i mean it's true that they can't turn corners to save themselves - apart from that i think they're improving a lot

but call me a snob, a w@nker or whatever but if i had the money for something like an HSV or a top line ford (whatever they are pfffft ) i'd probably get something else which has a better badge - even if it only has a tiny little 2L engine or whatever - say maybe a 320i or even a 130i? just an example - not just because we're on a bmw forum - just because i've grown up with the perception that aussie cars are just big engines wrapped in crap and i think it'll probably take a long time and a lot more improvements for me to change my mind.

I currently work nights (along with im_dave) and we usually sleep during the day and work the graveyard shifts..
Who would like to take the reigns and organise a BMW/non-BMW meet (so i can come ). Good to see that there is an EOI!:rocks:
