It is a perfect oil for daily use (apart from the price). 6.5L is needed for BMW 2.5/3.0 engines.

mobil 1 gold can be used, just comparatively expensive. the silver mobil 1 is not good. Ive just switched to bmw synthetic, its pretty smooth and not expensive.

I have a 325i and on the engine cover there's a sticker that says something like "BMW recommends Mobile 1 0w-40", that's the golden bottle one.

Re McLarenF1GTR:
BMW recommends Mobile 1 0w-40 stickers shown on my 05' Cooper S
On my 11' E90 LCI, it shows Castrol on the engine oil cap
BTW, BMWHK provide Shell Helix Ultra 0W-40 for both Mini Cooper and non-M BMW.

In early July I did oil change at Shell gas station with labor $100. C-fu was very patient and polite.
For engine oil and filter, can simply buy from 華X, 德X parts shop. I bought BMW 0W-40 oil $70/each (7 bottles I got $490) + oem filter $55, + C-fu labor $100 = $645.
I'm happy with it!!!

The problem is the engine has the oil evaporates problem, which after searching on the Internet, is common in SE Asia places such as Malaysia, Hong Kong etc.... Usually 1L of engine oil will disappear every few months, so we decided to try Mobile 1 5w-50. So far so good...

Don't expect it is included in HKD100-150 labor.

I buy Mobil 1 Gold @ 480 per 4L from a wholesale and ask garage to change for me.

Namreh,

If you don't have the evaporate problem, i.e., the computer asks you to add 1L once a month or two, then I think it's better to stick with whatever BMW recommended since I think the Mobil 1 5w-50 is not "BMW Approved LL-0X".
