HELP!!! V1 drop problem!
My buddy and I installed my KW v1's on my 325xi a week ago. We did a conservative drop knowing the springs had to settle etc... I want to dump the front end even lower now but when I try to wind the coilover spring down the bottom of the spring rubs against the sway bar link!It is only happening on the passengers side swaybar link. Has anyone experienced this?

Ok, so I took a picture while working on my car this weekend. You can see that if lower my car one tiny bit more, the swaybar link will rub on the spring. Can anyone tell my if it's a bad install or do I need some sort of aftermarket swaybar link to get the full drop. Sorry for the massive picture! |

looks like a design flaw. either the pictures taken at a weird angle or it would never be able to go all the way down even without the sway bar in place. that tab looks too close

The drivers side just clears and goes all the way down. The passenger's side seems like it could make it all the way down but the swaybar link hits the spring(probably a bad picture angle taken). I have heard of people on VW having to put adjustable swaybar links to dump their car but I've searched and found nothing of the sort on this forum. Has anyone got a manufacture defect on these shocks before?

If you bought these new & want to preserve the warranty, consider raising the height quite a bit. It's well below KW's specified adjustment range, which is different from how low it's physically capable of lowering, ie. total amount of threads. If you had to send it in for warranty, they'd be able to tell how low it was run and could deny your claim based on this information.
In short, they didn't take the difference of the passenger side design into consideration because the perch isn't *supposed* to be resting there. |
