Good tint shop in Detroit area?

Does anyone know of some good shops to have tint done at in the Metro-Detroit area?

I know of Sun-Shade off 15 Mile & Rochester, but is there anyplace else? Both Sun-Shade and my dealer (Erhard) use Llumar film. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff. How is it in terms of heat reduction, UV protection, radar/phone interference?

I see you have not had any response and I have little to offer, but have you found out more about tint options. I may consider this for future mods.

Also - Did anyone go to the Car Show in Detroit?

I'm thinking about going with HO. There's a place down in Toledo, and Beau mentioned a place over in Windsor that I may look into.

Which car show in Detroit?
The NAIAS? I went yesterday. It opens to the public tomorrow (Saturday).

Yes the NAIS - I went Wednesday and posted one picture of the Lambogini Girls on our Girly post. Too bad they were the only decent models on display . I did see lots of good cars, but not as many concepts as years prior. There was also no BMW hospitality area above the dispaly as was the case last year.

This sounds interesting. I'll give them a call. Hey Nmulax, you can have my HO. Erhard in Farmingon Hills uses a company called "Great Lakes". Is that who does Bloomfield's, too? I can't find a direct number for Great Lakes. I don't want to pay the extra cash to the dealer. I hear she does a really good job. Very thorough. Erhard wants to charge 150 to take off my HO, and 400 to apply Llumar. I want to get this done for much less than that.

The models are never really out for the industry days.... only downside about going then. I thought BMW did have the hospitality section though. -- I know they had a 2nd level roped off; it was closed off the day I went, but the BMW girl held my coat up there so I didn't have to carry it around.

Yeah, Erhard BH uses "Great Lakes Window Tinting" too. I tried finding a number as well, and got nowhere. I'm swinging by the dealer today, I'll see if I can get a number from them. If not, this Maximum Brilliance sounds like an option.

I see. Were you able to get a direct number? I think the tint lady's name is Nancy. Thanks for the info, Adam.

Saw a girl at the dealership today, and her 7 series was tinted with 3M film by Automeristar. It looked like they did a nice job. She said it cost around $315. Anyone know anything about this Automeristar?

I had a really bad experience with Sun-Shade. They put the wrong degree of tint on my car. They immediately took the tint off. However, they refused to give me my money back, claiming I signed the invoice which made no mention of the tint degree.

I was going to take them to small claims court, but did not have time. I would have won easily. Since they normally charge to take window tint off, their actions in taking off the window tint free of charge, after I claimed they ripped me off amounts to an admission. Thus, they would be equitably estopped from denying they put on the wrong tint. Hence, I win but I would have still lost in the long run given the time it would have took, and the judge would have probably just ordered them to put the right degree tint on.

Needless to say, DON'T GO TO SUN-SHADE. They used to be very-good in the late 90's- great experiencee on an older car or mine and my dad's, but the owner at that time cashed out and since sold it to the people I dealt with.

I'm going to try the place mentioned in this thread located in Troy. Maybe call the place in Auburn Hills to get a quote on Huper Optik.

Guess who's digits I got!!! She just did my car, but I forgot to ask if she wants me to post her number. PM me if you're interested. I got Llumar AT 20. She did a really nice job, and it looks 100 times better than the Huper Optik 30. I will post pics once the car is all cleaned up.

Maximum Brilliance Window Tinting seems to have undergone a name change and possibly new ownership. I called the number in this thread and a different glass company name was mentioned on their voicemail - Armored Glass. Is this still the right place? T

Any other tint install recommendations around the Birmingham/Troy/Royal Oak area?

Thanks

Performance Tinting

I used performance tinting in Kego Harbor and am very pleased with the results. Jason Hughes 248 343-8999 has lots of experiance and is great to work with. I had Luminar 35 on doors and rear.
