Help - short term insurance

I've still got this bloody Ferrari on my drive but need to get it shifted (some specialist has sh!t my wife up with stories of the house being raided for the keys & documents). I'm going to move it into secure storage tonight until my mate can get back from France to collect it.

Any idea where to get insurance - I only want to drive it 5 miles up the road (perhaps the long route!!!).

Have you tried just ringing your usual insurance company and asked them to cover you on a car for a day - many just charge an admin fee, I have done it before to cover courtesy cars with no hassle.

They won't do it if the car is insured on another policy.

If it's already insured then use your third party extension to cover yourself.

Just don't wrap it round a tree.

Yes, that's what I've just found out, I can't insure a car fully-comp if I'm not the owner. I can drive it third-party but in order to be fully-comp I would have to be named on the owners policy. A pain in the arse when he's in France and I can't get hold of him!!!

Looks like I might brave a trip in the Fezza third-party

http://www.dayinsure.co.uk do daily insurance, but I think they only cover upto group 15, or a certain value. I expect the Fezza will exceed it :-)

Thanks chaps, especially for the more succinct offering from Steve!!!

Shifted it using my third party insurance. Normally I wouldn't give a toss but when it's someone else's car, especially one like this, I would have preferred fully comp.

The panic started as a specialist mechanic came to check it out today on behalf of a client looking to buy it. Anyway this chap really shit my wife up (I was at work) about it being parked on the drive (covered and blocked in but not garaged) and saying that we're running the risk of being raided by masked men to get the log book & keys, etc. My wife demanded it was moved; today!!! This guy since e-mailed my mate claiming that, as he had nowhere to store the car (thanks to his devious input), offered him 7k under the asking price. My mate told him in no uncertain terms to fuck right off.

Anyway, I'm fuming this guy shit my wife up to such an extent (she has always been nervous about it being parked there), but at least I've shifted the car. My mate had another driveway we could stick it on.

So, took it for a spin, meant to drive leisurely but failed completely. First thing that struck me was the lack of power-steering - my God it was hard to get off the drive having been tucked into the corner. It makes a gorgeous noise and really does look the part; gets everyone's attention. Light and nimble and has some serious poke for a 20 year old car.

Anyway, some good news, I managed to get to drive it this evening (I'm happy & wife happy!!!), but I just learned it's got to be moved again tomorrow so off I go again tomorrow night!!!
