hey, what's so funny about 3-series beating other sport cars?? Remember, BMW is good at acceleration. but excellent in control!

I've driven my 330 for more than 1/2 year. I never lose on street so far. In sequence, I beaten a skyline R34 on a busy highway, a group of young ppl driving (integra, civic, mr-s, s2000 + a couple more) all are mod externally and i got over all of them together on highway as well. And then it was a 10 yrs old Rolls Royce drag, it was fast but i beaten it, and then the last two is quite remarkable. 1st one is boxter on a mostly uphill mountain road, it was behind me at first and the other driver never see me headlight. and the last one was on the same road, with EVO9, got over him in the S-corners.

You can think either those ppl can't drive or i am a lier. fair enough. if you don't believe those records, i won't turn against you as those are hard to believe if i never did them too.

i have witnesses who were in the car with me.......nd the mustang was my friends car nd i raced him 3 times in a row & thats also why i said it could be to them not knowing how to shift as fast & the Z i raced twice from a roll of 50, he was ahead of me by 3/4 of a car than i passed him, so the e46 couldve been better on the top end

I have serious doubts about the Z. His problem in the top end may have been his foot coming off the floor? Especially with an E46. My E90 330 is well matched against an 03-06 z, and loses to an 07, although not by a LOT. (but losing is losing)

i was surprised myself, if somebody told me i wouldnt believe them either....even for the e90 with 30 less hp and i dunno know how much torque the Z has but has to be more, to beat it is an accomplishment......look at the e92 300hp & 300tq doin a couple of ticks under 5 sec, thats pretty amazin......bmwusa says 5.3 sec, they're usually off

you don't have to be a dick and attack him personally, it was kinda humorous when you made that BS train post, but your subsequent jabs at him seem uncalled for, chillax a bit, will you?

curb weight and drag coefficient have nothing to do with figuring out 0-60 or quarter mile. The only thing used to figure it out is the rate of acceleration.

The best I got with our '06 330i Auto was a 6.6 0-60 with the GTEch Meter. For comparison, here are some other cars I've tested. Keep in mind I'm in Arizona so the times are slower than other areas (heat, altitude, etc).

06 330i Auto: 6.6
07 BMW 335i Manual: 4.8
07 Camry SE Auto: 6.4
06 Magnum SRT8: 5.8
06 IS350: 5.5
06 Sienna: 8.4

All of these runs were done when relatively new (under 500 miles). So I would figure the 330's 6.6 time to be closer to a 6.4 when broken in, and more like a 6.2 in a different state than Arizona. Right where BMW has it. Now the 335i is a different story. I was shocked at the 4.8! I hit 5.0's consistenly with so-so launches. And yes, I know how to drive.

my stock 330i dyno'd at 272 hp not 258 that was on 97 ron not even on the 102 im using atm =/

the 330i does do 0-60's in 5.7's constantly for me best was a 5.692, 5.38 is a bit low

hm, I don't believe that a stock 330i would dyno at 272hp, that's 335i territory

Mine ('06 330i auto) dyno'd at 196rwhp, which is consistent with others that I've seen. My '95 M3 which was rated at 240hp dyno'd at 220rwhp.

I'd have to see that to believe it. That would indicate your 330i has more than 300HP at the crank when it's rated at about 250HP. My guess is that dyno may be a little inaccurate. The figure of 196HP seems a little low on the dyno. In any case... your 330i is WAAAAAY faster than my 160HP Honda Accord that I wouldn't pay a wooden nickel to dyno. I can't wait till my 335i gets here.

It may "seem" low, but I've actually dyno'd it. Read this article from Automobile Magazine. Here's a quick blurb...

The non-turbocharged 330i, rated by BMW at 255 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque, puts about 200 hp and 180 lb-ft to the rear wheels. That’s roughly a twenty-percent loss. Since they have similar drivelines, you’d expect the 335i to put down 235 hp and 250 lb-ft.

But it didn’t. It put down a whole lot more: 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. A few quick taps on our trusty calculator shows that this engine is likely putting out closer to 350 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque.

And here's the link: http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...i_dynamometer/
