Road Trip to Tale of The Dragon - Who wants to come? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I'm considering planning a trip up to the Tail of The Dragon (318 curves in 11 miles) in Deals Gap, NC and I wanted to see if anyone was interested in coming with. I was thinking four or five of us could trek up there, do a couple runs on the famous Tail of The Dragon, drive a few scenic routes and then come home. Obviously, a round trip journey couldn't be done in a day so we'd stay a night at a hotel. I figure we leave 7AM sharp, drive a scenic route once we get there (bearing it will be about 4PM) and take pictures with the sun setting in the background. Then wake up the next morning, hit the Tail of The Dragon around 8AM and head home 7 hours later at about 3PM.

Is anyone interested in doing this? From Clearwater the trip is about 660 miles and a 10 hour drive each way (going the speed limit which we know we're going to be well above). I'd say we could make it there safely in 8 1/2 hours.

Who'd be down for going the day after Christmas---December 26th to the 27th?

EDIT: Well, this isn't going to work out because there simply are not enough people interested in going. Maybe sometime within the next few months we can put a meet like this together for Tail of The Dragon.

That's cool. I'd definetly buy some shots of my car on the Dragon if someone was takin' pictures.

EDIT: Just finished reading your entire Performance Center Delivery thread. Pretty cool! I took PCD on my 330i back in May. It was equally awesome!

You only need one more thing: a 5 series iDrive knob.

I'm interested to visit one day. I can't commit to it at the moment though and think chances are slim. I may have family coming into town so I have to check.

Forget your family bro. This is the Tale of The Dragon in the winter. How much cooler could it get! Someone with a radar detector should come because then we could make some really good time. Driv3r, you comin'? I'll stay behind you and we can make it there in 6 hours.
