musicar nw - E90 OEM-look fiberglass subwoofer

E90 OEM-look fiberglass subwoofer

We've been working on this for a while, as some of you know. This subwoofer is for E90 sedans, and it fits in the driver's rear corner (nestled in the battery tray).

The enclosure is perfect, air-chamber-size-wise, for an Image Dynamics ID10 and it sounds great with a Morel Ultimo if sufficient power is applied. (Woofers are available in different impedances, so we will want to know your amp setup before setting up your package). The base woofer we use has a 17mm xmax - that's a lot of excursion.

How does it sound?
A pre-production unit was tested by Technic, who is running it in his vehicle presently. He said:

Quote:
IMO, this is what was lacking in my system, some real, deep bass than only a proper sub in a sealed enclosure can provide.
How does it look?
The material is real OEM-grade trunk liner, not sweatshirt material or other non-auto-grade textiles. We dye it to match the BMW trunk (since BMW trunk liner is not commercially available). This is the best-looking, best-sounding, and best-made subwoofer enclosure available for the E90 - guaranteed.

Is it audible in the cabin?
Yes, due to corner loading. We've had some people ask about corner loading, so we attached some quotes on why this woofer has more output than some folks expect.

Quote:
Corner loading provides a 9dB boost due to the 3 surfaces (floor and 2 walls) interacting with the speaker driver.

When can I have one?
There is usually a 7-10 day lead time for shipment. These are built to order, so we take a deposit prior to manufacture. If we were bigger, we could stock them, but at the moment we're a small operation and we need to keep the supply chain short, I'm afraid.

What if I don't like it?
We have the Musicar Performance Guarantee. We guarantee the performance of the systems we pre-load. You have 2 weeks to get a 100% refund and return the properly-working, cosmetically-undamaged speaker system, if it isn't what you want. (If you really want two 12" subs, this isn't what you want. It's a high-fidelity-oriented subwoofer system, not a ground thumper).

What does it cost?
Contact us via PM or on our web site for specific prices and configuration advice. Let us know your model year E90 and what gear you already have, thanks. If you have an E92, we can put you on our list, and if you are in the Pacific Northwest, maybe we can use you as the test sled!
  • Loaded subwoofer systems start at $450 plus actual freight.
  • Ultra-mini, fan-cooled amp-and-sub packages start at $700 plus freight.
  • Unloaded enclosures run $300 plus actual freight.

What woofers fit?
It accepts a single 10" sub of moderate depth. (No JBL GTi, no W7, etc.) The depth at center is 6.75". The depth at the upper bump (see below) is 5.5". The inside diameter of the opening is 9.25", and the inside diameter of the recess is 10.25" (the recess is 0.75" deep).

Please note that we don't accept responsibility for your woofer fitting or not fitting - we're not trying to be jerks about it, but we know our woofers fit and sound great, and we just can't spend the time researching every woofer out there. We only guarantee the performance of the systems we pre-load.

Thanks for reading!

Yes, there are. We have been looking for a Pacific NW E92 volunteer to serve as a test sled (we would happily work out some trade of some kind for the access). Know anybody?

Thanks! The pic doesn't do the match justice, which is all too often the case.

The W6 spacer used up the 3/4" recess for the 10", too.

As it comes, it just rests in there, but you have a couple of options.

Some folks use the soft side of adhesive Velcro and use it to fit the enclosure into the tray tightly (it's that close!)

We are also working on a bracket that will attach to the top of the enclosure and to the underside of the deck lid, tying off an existing fastener.

But for ease of removal, you can go with #1...

Is this the ID10 sub you have in there:

http://cgi.ebay.com/IDQ10V3-D2-IMAGE...item1c1422fad6

Could you install the ID 10 and then cover the grill area with the carpet so that the sub is not visible?

this looks really good. My only concern is that this will leave me no more room for a golf bag. I guess you can't have it all though.

If you'e not over 6-3, I would think the golf bag still fits, diagonally?

VP, I need an enclosure for my e90 sedan. Pls quote me price. I also want to know if the ID10 can be covered with the carpet so it is not visible. Would I need to send you the ID10 or can you provide?
