New draft of E9x audio backgrounder document

I've received some comments on the first draft 1.0 which I've incorporated into 1.1... any more suggestions?

This is very informative. I think some pictures showing the locations of the speaker locations, head units and amplifier location would take it to the next level.

I want this doc to describe what is in the car, because that is a common question. I want another doc to discuss what is possible as far as upgrading.

I will look at adding pics after the text is vetted. Seems to be there.

Looks like more people would chime in on this

After all the repeated questions.
I wonder where Technic is.

OK, I'm confused. I have an 07 e92. Radio says professional cd. No where in the radio options does it say anything about logic 7, yet I have a 7 band eq and center channel speaker. What gives?

Great point to add!Your E92 must be. 335? In the US, 335 prior to 2009 came with Top HiFi Logic 7 as standard equipment. It did not become an option until 2009. I will add that to the next rev.

There going back to Hi Fi in the US

There going back to Hi Fi as standard in the US after September according to posts on the bimmerpost board . Boy I would be steaming if I got the base stereo . Also this seem like it would be a point for inclusion in history of.

Garage List
It would be nice if you included pictures of the various speakers, along with dimensions and characteristics (if known), such as ohm rating, etc. And is the front center speaker a coax? Technic's posts seem to indicate that it is, but I don't see that in this document.

Technic has an M3, and the document does not (yet) include M3 systems. The center channel in L7 systems is a 2-ohm midrange speaker, same as in the doors and rear deck. It does not have a tweeter. The M3 uses a 4-ohm coax speaker as a center.

I know I am resurrecting a really old thread, but thanks for the stereo 101 piece. Much easier to follow for a newb like me than some of the stickies in the audio forum.
