Aftermarket part that you kept the longest? (for E9x) - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Just today, I realized one amazing fact. There is this one mod that I had it for the longest ever on a vehicle.

Luminics Yellow fogs. These cheap fogs that I got after reading some reviews off ricer forums, is currently near 5 years old and STILL running strong without any color fade.

I plan on buying them again. Two thumbs up.

Next up is my authentic Hartge lip, but $900 lip holding up doesn't compare to $20 foglights lasting.

What about you? Make sure the part is still holding up nicely.

Agreed. I put an oem M3 lip spoiler on last night after 3 weeks of owning the car. It'll stay on and I'll never deal with taking it off even when I sell the car. Probably the same with the painted reflectors and tint which almost don't even count as mods.

My aftermarket parts last longer than the car. jk. I would say my dimisa 4" tips. I've had them since I bought my first e90 335i in 08. I've switched them over to 2 different 3ers already, and I absoulutly love them!!! I purchased them in chrome, then had them powdercoated Jet black. I love them!

Dimisa's Tips are amazing quality and I think it looks amazing on the car.

I just started modding mine and I do not intend to remove my mods anytime soon since all of them are performance hardware mods.

Honestly, none of the aerodynamic upgrades will provide any performance benefit for USA drivers. We do not have an autobahn here and we really won't benefit from improved aerodynamics on our cars. We just don't get up to those speeds.

In Europe, its very common to see complete "Autobahn" packages of mods tailored for high-speed driving where you have high-engine speeds. Exhausts, brakes, tunes, wheels, lighting mods and aerodynamic alterations can be selected in such a way that they give maximum performance for autobahn driving.

Here, its more of a visual thing. Call it "Optical Tuning" if you want!

Is that question for real?

Do you realize the kinds of speeds he'd have to be doing to feel the difference from a lip spoiler?

As for my longest running mod: M3 steering wheel. Still love it as much as I did on day one

It's not necessarily the lack of an autobahn that makes a 3/4 inch tall spoiler useless (on straights with high speed, you don't want unnecessary aero bits causing drag). wings and spoilers are effective in increasing downforce through corners where tires are subjected to lateral G's and thus require more pressure to make up for the lack of traction. What makes a lip spoiler ineffective on our car's is the fact that a 3 series can't go through any corner at any speed high enough for reasonably sized aero pieces to cause beneficial downforce.

actually I saw a wind tunnel test and it actually produced like 3 pounds of down force at like 150 mph haha
