Had a "tussle" last night with a 60 reg megane. It had a single exhaust in the middle of the bumper so it was one of the hot variety's.

I was cruisin along in the slow lane mindin my own business & he pulled up alongside as there was a lorry blocking his progress but at least 80 yrds in front so no reason to stay right by my side. Then he seem to drop a gear, make some noise & shoot towards the rear end of the Lorry. Game on........

Pulled out behind him, waited for lorry to pull over & let him go for maybe 2 seconds then I go for it. Reason for this is 2 fold. Don't want to be on his bumper going for it & he thinks for a few seconds he has me beaten

After 20 seconds the megane is reeled in & dispatched although I think we were both conscious of road speed & conditions (nothing else in front for a good half mile & the road was straight as an arrow).

Now I'm in front, he's behind but at a sensible distance & then we slow down behind another lorry overtaking on the dual carriageway. I LOVE these situations. Lorry pulls over & both cars now going for it. The 335d pulls away with out any drama. Only lasted for 15 secs but it was enough to know that he coudn't match the beemer. I pull over, with a smug felling inside & let him carry on at his 90+ cruisin speed.

My car was chipped, & will be chipped again soon. Had a new ecu so had it reset to standard but recently replaced the DPF with a pipe from ecotune & this was the 1st time I have give it the full beans since it's been on ( only been on 2 weeks & it's been snowy ever since) & it deffo got more umph. Almost felt chipped at higher revs.

Cant wait to get over to see Simon & get my map back on.

This way you are testing the cars performance & not your own & only over half a mile or so. Once it's obvious I'm pulling away from someone then that's all I need to know. Bit like last night

Not into racing round bendy country lanes & the like. Way to dangerous.
