In most places there is no actual by-law preventing you from parking there (unlike handicapped spots), it's just a sign put up by the property owner.

I've seen hybrid spots, expectant mother spots, and spots for people with children around here.

That explains why I never got a ticket! I always wondered about stuff like that, I guess the worst that could happen is the owner could report me as trespassing if I don't follow their rules! I am a paying customer however
