skene designs license plate pics

didn't want to drill holes in my mtech so I bought the skene designs plate holder. No one has really posted good pics so here are mine. you still have to drill holes but it's underneath where it's not visible. I just painted the brackets on the car black to make it more stealth when you remove the plate. There's small rubber stoppers behind the bracket towards the top of the plate...to protect the bumper.

motorized = swift plate
which would mean cutting the grille for space for the plate to slide into...and I have no need for a motorized plate.

you mean the two brackets mounted onto the bumper? They were mounted with double sided tape and screws.

I saw that. I still prefer the skene. Smaller bracket mounted on the bumper. Two screws instead of three (although you might be able to get away with two for the bell...don't know how heavy it is though). And without measuring...I'm guessing the skene mounts the plate a touch higher...not blocking the IC opening as much. However negligible that is or if it really even is higher...I don't really care

I bought the skene a couple months ago. And didn't even know of the bell at the time. In the end I'm not about to lose sleep over $40. heh
But at least people have more options now

Nice pics, great looking car

Yup, I love my Skene Designs front plate.. best solution for front plate mount.. way better than the tow hook mounts IMO

A bit pricey but it's quality (lightweight, sturdy) and fully adjustable

I don't agree.

I looked at the bell mounting and the Skene (while overpriced) looks to me like the better solution. The parts are higher quality than the Bell bracket, which is made in China of dubious quality metal and is mechanically not rigid. When someone backs into your bumper the Bell bracket is more likely to twist upward (because of its multiple rotating joints), putting a force on the screws that can tear them out of the bumper.

The Skene is made of aluminum which is rustproof (but probably should be painted or clear-coated to protect against salt corrosion).

Also, the Skene brackets allow mounting the plate higher so that air flow is less impeded and the plate looks better.

Forty bucks is not worth losing sleep over. For God's sake, you're driving a $50,000 + car!

Every time you do that you are making the hole in the bumper bigger and the fit more loose. At some point you will have to go to larger screws to get a nice, tight fit.
