Spotted, F40...right now.

Sat in the car park of Smith's Brasserie right now...Ferarri F40, being unloaded for a video shoot. Apparently James May is inside, might pop in for a coffee! Anyone about? There's a lot of other expensive metal about too.

I just happened to be out for a quick blast, came down into the top end of Ongar and spotted the F40 up on the trailer. Figured I'd pull in and have a nosey!!

I was in Monaco last week and I saw plenty of expensive metal there but nothing that compares to this. Monaco was a brash display of wealth. This is has a greater sense of occassion and class about it. Sadly I suspect it lives under a cover most of the time.

Hey fella - how funny - i drove past and saw the Fezza too but didnt bother stopping - just slowed down and then carried on - ive only just logged on as we were out all day today otherwise i would have turned around and gone back - gutted!!! I assume this will be for some Top Gear episode?? Did you have a little chin wag with Mr May??
ps; Ironically we went to Alecs' new place last night - he used to own Smiths - his new place is awesome, you must try it!

Stevie,

Didn't chat to Mr. May sadly, he was being accosted by some middle aged women!! I spoke to one of the film crew and he said it was for a Top Gear DVD...

James may got in the car (after having a quick smoke and doing some photos for the ladies) and just drove off very calmly in the 'rarri.

There was an F430 and a 575 Maranello parked up too (customers of the brasserie) as well as an XKR, a Bentley and a few other nice motors knocking about.

Nice! One of the best supercars of all time. There is an F40 here (Washington, DC area) that shows up fairly regularly at our local Cars and Coffee.

When I was having the Maserati serviced a few years back at Stratstone in Manchester I was having a nosey around an F40 that had just been put inside for sale. A chap walked in whilst I was there to finalise details on his Ferrari purchase and just turned round and said I'll take that too; the sales people didn't even flinch, I nearly had to be resuscitated!!! He rolled up in a Phantom - unbeleivable.

He was well known to the dealership. They probably rolled the F40 out knowing he was coming in knowing he'd just buy it.

It was funny getting the Masser serviced (the bill soon wiped the smile off my face). Having previously owned the 350Z when that went in I was surrounded by Micra's, Almera's & trucks suddenly I was surrounded by lots of shiny red expensive metal (and the odd gorgeous Masser for good measure). I remember taking a photo & texting it my father-in-law who appreciated the scene .
