Garmin Nuvi and Red Light Camera Locations

My fiance recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 660. My fiance is also very internet savvy and discovered that you can download custom Point of Interests (POI) in Excel-like csv spreadsheet file formats and upload them to her GPS. The Garmin Nuvi will then alert the driver when you approach any of these custom Point of Interests.

What makes this a great feature is she found a website where you can download locations of red light cameras in certain US cities (google this). I personally experienced this last night when the Garmin Nuvi alerted me of an approaching red light camera in an area that I have not driven before. The traffic light at that intersection never turned red, but I thought this was quite amazing. I heard if you get caught driving through these intersections when the light is red, the ticket is $70.

I just wanted to share this so others will know...

I am currently investigating a way to hardwire the Garmin Nuvi (using the V1 hard wiring DIY on this website)

I think the best way to avoid a red light ticket is to NOT go thru when the light is red
