Engine stalled while turning

So I was coming home yesterday, got off the highway, drove on the local road for about 5 mins and made a right onto my block. With top down, music going, AC blasting, I was having fun. As I turned, the steering wheel got heavy to a point of being locked. I'm almost about to hit the car that's parked on the left side off the road, I slammed my brakes. I has no idea what went wrong, my music was still on, and so was the AC. The car was in D and everything looked ok.

I put the car in park and started the car. It started up alright. So now I have no idea what happened, and it hasn't happened ever since. It certainly never happened in my 328xi.

Now I'm thinking what if this would have happened on the highway, or when I was changing lanes.

Anyone experience this, or know what can be wrong.

One suggestion would be to check your oil cap. Did you do an oil change and add some oil recently that you may have left it loose?

On my old C class, I did an oil change and forgot to fully tighten the oil cap. I had a similar situation happen... the car would drive fine but if I got off the freeway and came to almost stop at the red light, the engine would try to stall. I couldn't find what was causing this (changed spark plugs, air filter, etc.) and it still acted the same, until I found the loose oil cap. Tightened it up and all stalling problems went away.

The car is three weeks old, so no, I haven't changed the oil. But I'll check the oil cap, anyway.

Oil Cap, low fuel? Possibly a loose battery cable....those are all things I would start with.

If the car is 3 weeks old I would start with the dealer once you check those smalls things.

Have them run a diagnostic since the car would have thrown codes.

I would take it to the dealer and see what happens, could have just been a perfect storm of weather, engine temp, road condition and something.

Probably a one off deal though

Take it to the dealer asap and make sure they document everything and give you a satisfactory answer.
A lose cap or some other random little thing shouldn't cause this car to stall out.

Yes, obviously if it is that new and still under warranty, take it to the dealer and have them check it out, especially with the hpfp issues around.

How much fuel was in the tank. If it was running on empty, the little remaining fuel will slosh to one side under cornering, braking, or acceleration forces, starving the LPFP. This will be even more pronounced on a hill.

Sounds like the HPFP to me. Be glad it didnt happen to you going 80 on the freeway in the #1 lane like it did to me. So fun to play russian roulette on your daily commute.

I'm hoping it's a one time deal, because it hasn't happened ever since.

I had about 30 miles to go till empty on the fuel tank and it's possible when i took the turn the remaining fuel sloshed to one side since i was low on gas.

What is HPFP, LPFP? sorry for the ignorance, but i don't know what these terms stand for.
