2007 335i Coupe Wheel noise?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum (and to being a BMW owner) and I was wondering about an issue I've been having and I'm curious if other 335 owners are experiencing the same thing.

Pretty much exactly a month ago I bought a certified pre-owned 2007 335i Coupe (w/ sport package). On the 2nd day that I had the car, I noticed after I had come to a complete stop (usually after driving for a bit or after moderate braking), as I slowly pulled away there was a distinct squeaking noise coming from the rear tires. There wasn't any noise DURING braking, but as I slowly move forward, there is a loud noise that changed in pitch and volume as the wheels rotated.

I took the car back to the dealership where I bought it, and a technician went for a drive with me, he heard the noise and said that brakes were brand new (replaced as part of the certification) and that I should give them 1000 km to get worn in and to bring it back in if the noise persisted.

After the 1000 km mark, the noise was as bad, if not worse. I took the car back in today (with 2500km on the brakes), and the technician that was assigned to inspect them said the brakes looked perfectly fine and that there was nothing he could do and that it was "normal" for the 335 model.

We went for a drive and he heard the noise, tried a few things with the parking brake, but still said it was somewhat expected from a 335. I told the service rep I was not that pleased with the explanation and they ended up completely replacing the brakes.

So far today, the noise is completely gone, but the technician said he was pretty sure it would come back.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is it really "expected" to get this loud, irritating squeak from the wheels? I find it pretty hard to believe that this is expected.

Thanks.

I believe it is the brake sensor. It's a pretty common problem for the 335 and I had mine replaced under warranty.

The technician actually mentioned this sensor. He said often when people report noise, it's caused by the sensor touching the brake, but he said it was quite far away (and he showed me)
