Be sure to say hi to the Frozen Gray M3 at Classic BMW (Plano)

I just got back from Classic and noticed they have a nice new Frozen Gray M3 coupe right outside the customer waiting area. I tried to snap a cell phone pic without looking too much like a douchedragon over it...

The car is sold but it just got out of PDI and detail so they can show it off before the customer picks it up. Just as I thought, the paint feels like an unpolished, matte surface. I don't believe this paint has a top coat of clear, and I'm sure you've all seen the "maintenance agreement" owners are required to sign before taking the keys.

That's 1/30 and likely the most expensive E92 that will ever be offered from the showroom floor.

Yuck! Don't think a gallon of wax will help that one.
I'll pass...

I'm not too sure about the gray matte. Maybe a black would be better. But it's still a M3 and I am still jealous. haha

I think it looks amazing. Though I can't remember all of the cleaning rules from BMW, but it seemed really absurd. Still, the car looks great.

The paint job is space grey with a matte clearcoat (per Roundel Magazine's article). There is some question about paint maintenance, but I don't think wax would be out of the question to protect the paint, just like any other paint. Matte paint has been popular for awhile now and I've seen several street rods with this type of finish. I like it, although I'm not sure I'd pay the $80K fixed price for it.

I was there last Saturday for an alignment. All the old folks were checking it out.

I was in there the other day to pick up an oil filter. paint already looks like it's got some problems on the hood. Gotta say I'm not a fan of the look in person and definitely wouldn't want to deal with the nightmare of keeping that clearcoat in good shape!
