Searched and asked in another thread- what is the 328i e93 differential capacity? Want to replace the fluid..

I think its almost like 4 quarts.

its 1.2 quarts buy 2 qaurts to be safe.

Since the diff doesn't have a drain plug, measure the fluid that comes out into a marked clear plastic container to make sure you get it all. I had to change to softer plastic tubing on my pump half way thru to get to the bottom of the diff and the rest of the fluid.

BMW TIS states the 328 diff capacity is 1 liter or 1.06 quarts OR to fill the diff until oil starts dripping out the fill port.

Per the Bentley BMW 3 Series Service Manual, Page 333-1:

Rear differential capacity non-turbo: 1.0 ltr (1.05 qt)

Rear differential capacity turbo: 1.2 ltr (1.3 qt)

Per the Bentley BMW 3 Series Service Manual, Page 333-2:

Tightening Torque (all) Fill / Drain Plug: 44 ft-lb

So, a 328i (like mine) will take one US quart, unless you flush & clean all the old fluid from the inside by removing the dif housing cover first! Red Line polyo ester (PE), Group V base stock synthetics everywhere is the way to go!!
