Average 24 mpg according to the OBC with mostly town driving and D mode over the last 8 months.

Ok..

I went from Glasgow to Edinburgh and brimmed before and after.

It used 12.47 litres for the 100 miles. Mixed driving on the mway... one way was clearish, but the way back was busy. Id say 70mph mainly on the way to Edin and 50mph back.

I think that works out around 36mpg

that's roughly right. I generally get about 19 strictly in the city. Sometimes I can be meek with the gas pedal and get around 23-25.

Your US gallons are smaller too, so 23-25 ain't bad...

I don't want to know really.

Just keep filling it up when its empty - i usually don't even look at the pump - or read the card payment screen - too depressing.

Put in the pin and leave none the wiser.
