Depends on what you prefer. I have taken American Airlines to London (they have a great First Class section, Flagship Suites) and then BA to Munich as well as Lufthansa - also good FC and decent BC.

Only airport is Franz Josef Strauß

Near which facility? But lots to do in Munich, depends on your interests. Best to ask in the Bimmerfest European Delivery forum.

I did a two week trip myself. I did about half the housing arrangements before hand and about half on the fly. I made sure I had a hotel and such for the beginning of the trip to make pick up easy and same for the end for drop off. Since I was there for the European GP I made that reservation as well. Besides those, I just used a combination of a good guide book and some hunting to find nice places to stay. What you do while you're there is completely up to you though, depends on your intrests. I would recommend a factory tour though, they're pretty interesting and you can see "your car" being made.

+1 for checking the bimmerfest ED forums.

Depends on time of year. Personally I love to drive in the Alps. Half the fun is perusing all the travel websites/books and figuring out what you want to do. And then throwing it all out the window after you meet someone in a Munich Biergarten that wants to go hike in the pyrennees. Life is great. Especially in a BMW in Bavaria.
