DIY MirrorTap and BlendMount

BMW 335i Convertible (e93) 2009
ESCORT 9500ix Radar Unit

Blend Mount Model: BBE2014 @ $129 including shipping + taxes from Amazon.

MirrorTap Model: Unknown, need to submit car year and model for correct wire. Do not get the shortest wire, get the longer one or else you will have to solder extra wires to extend it. $29+tax from Amazon.

TOOLS NEEDED: A set of auto interior prying tools made of plastic.

1. Pry open light box above the rear view mirror. Use plastic car interior prying tools or you risk scratching the plastic. You can get them at any auto parts store.

2. Use a wide enough plastic pryer that can push on the two locking tabs near the right rear corner of the light box (they are aligned parallel to the doors). Push the two tabs inwards until the tabs clear the frame, and pull the right side of the box down and out from the frame. Then the left side should come out quite easily.
Sorry I don't have photos of these tabs.

3. Snake the MirrorTap terminals from the front windshield area where the glass meets the interior roof trim to the left of the rear view mirror. There should be a big enough gap to snake both terminals into the roof and come out through the gaping opening that is left by the removal of the light box.

4. Disconnect the left side connector of the light box and jam the MirrorTapís positive (RED) terminal into where the Green/White Stripe wire terminates on the light box connector (now the connector should not be on the light box itself, but connected to the rest of the car and dangling free). Jam it in there completely, it should fit if you have the correct MirrorTap wire. When disconnecting any connector, pay attention to any interlocking parts which need to be pushed to release the connections from one another.

5. Jam the negative (Black) wire from the MIrrorTap into the solid brown wire terminal on the carís connector.

6. Reconnect the connector to the light box from whence you disconnected it earlier.

7. Reinstall the light box apparatus back into the roof from whence you pried it apart.

MIRRORTAP INSTALL NOW COMPLETE.

PROCEED TO FOLLOW BLENDMOUNT HARDWARE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS. Enjoy your new radar.

Get the 15 inch. You can always hide the extra wire, but you can't make new wire out of thin air. No more photos.
