Yep, got one as a gift when I got the my e90. It's funny because they don't actually fit. They are too fat, so the bottom of the mug is about 1/2 inch from making contact with the bottom of the holder which makes it very unstable.

I thought it was pretty funny that the BMW mugs don't fit their cup holders...

Plus my time to pull them out and change them.

As for the design, I dont mind it. But there are often times when I drink 2 drinks. An energy drink (redbull, monster etc) and a water. Water is SOOOO far away when its about to touch the pass mirror. I find myself just setting it on my pass seat.

I rate my cup holders a 4/10
i had the same problem you can change the interior part from the old one to the new so they match instead of buying a new one for the one thats not broken.

They are good, if you are a good driver and only put in SMALL coffee or LIDDED bottles SEALED TIGHTLY. and the interior is great if you DONT eat in the car or if you do, eat on a TRAY or over a LAPCLOTH...

I really don't drink in my car, but I'll occasionally carry a bottle of water which it holds just fine. I think they could have made them a bit deeper but in general I don't have a problem with them, cup holders are not a priority for me.

They hold my extra large McDonald's sweet tea's just fine. Nothing fat about that right?

My girlfriend is tall and has long legs and she always scrapes her knee on them. Hopefully the F30 has them mounted in the middle in-front of the shifter.

I miss my "can cooler" that was in the center console that you could put a soda can inside and keep it cool using the AC.
First two weeks in i launched, and I mean launched, a small mcdonalds coke in the last five minutes of a four hour road trip. Launched from a red light and *takeoff*

I find myself cataloging which drinks fit in the cup holders and which don't. Vitamin water fits the best I've found. Very snug.

Ridiculous.

  • I don't find the reach to the driver's one so far away, but then my seat isn't set in the supine position when I drive the car.
  • I've never had a container fall out of them.
  • Neither of them has broken, but then I don't leave them extended when there's nothing in them.
  • They dissuade cluttering up the car as one can't just toss "stuff" into them.
The one complaint I have about the ones in front is that they won't hold a regular sized Gatorade bottle, which caused me to switch to Life Water.
Hello, tony. I see your number is smaller than mine.

these cup holders are fancy hehe they slide out
the only complain I would have is the sizing and how my water bottle always falls out or tilt in an awkward position.

I have the two pop out cup holders in my 335i. I drink whatever I want in my car, big beverages, you name it. These hold my drinks fine. They're just strangely placed but they haven't let me down yet.

E90 cupholders are as good as it gets for German cars. You want to see a POS, take a look at the 135i's with nav.

My funny story is when I was in europe, my friend was driving my car, hit the accelerator, and the two coke bottles (thankfully sealed) that were in the two front cupholders launched at my head. All was good, and my friend and I laughed about it afterwards, but still, good reminder for me to not put anything there if I can help it unless it has a sealed cap on it... :P

Never drink coffee or pop in the car but have a need to keep a bottle of water handy/easy access and don't want to use the factory cup holders. Anyone know of a good cheap side pocket drink/storage clipon for E90 that can hold bottle of water ?

Oh I agree. Those were useless, I saw now someone is making the front ones out of metal. I didn't like the one that used the change holder. I used to just get bottles and jam them between the console and seat belt buckle
