07 335i m sport saloon, auto. Only owned for 3 wks, so dont really know yet. But i mainly been driving 'like a nun' to and from work, occasionally footing it, just to see, lool, omg, wow. Computer says 17-20mpgs, running on v power. Oh well 2.50 a litre it is then compared to the d's.

OBC currently showing 27.7mpg on my 325...this is rubbish, mainly short journeys with the occasional 40 mile run....my 2004 330i was better!

Hi all

Just got my E90 335d a couple of weeks ago and am a bit concerned about the fuel consumption. Had just over a quarter tank of fuel this morning so reset the OBC and the mpg I'm seeing is 23mpg - mainly careful town driving this week.

Should I get a full tank and then reset the OBC and assess what it gives me or could there be problem with my car?

Motorway, steady 75mph with CC = 55 mpg, 4-up with luggage.
School run stop/start short journeys = 35 mpg
Driving Miss Daisy at steady 50-60 mph speeds easily gets 60+mpg.
All this on supermarket fuel, brim to brim. Posh pricey fuel doesn't seem to offer any more range. Just as well considering fuel prices expected in 2011!

a) Mixed 70/30% Urban/Motorway - 21mpg
b) London to Birmingham on free flowing motorways - 28 mpg

Car was frequently driven hard during these periods, so these figures are not conservative - they represent what you would expect to get while enjoying a remapped 335 on a daily basis

total ownership 35,000 miles at OBC of 47mpg.

Have fuel card, so little effort made towards economy. Wide range of roads and speeds.

335i M sport coupe '57 manual, 25mpg, that's over 10,000 miles and brim to brim calculation. Mostly commute to work which is 50/50 town/A roads. Pretty good for a car that can carry 4 and do 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds!

The 335i engine is amazingly frugal on the motorway where I can easly get 33-35mpg at a decent crusing speed.

I'm having it mapped next week so I'll see what that does to the mpg.

By comparison, I had a DMS mapped 535d touring which never managed more than 28mpg! And a 400bhp mapped Evo IX which hovered around the 18-20mpg mark.

After around a thousand miles I've averaged 26ish mpg from my 335i coupe. I'm happy with that having got used to 18mpg with my old RX8, I guess that not regularly hitting 9000rpm makes a difference.

How the hell can BMW quote 58mpg for the 320d then? Most of you are stating 35-45mpg as being the norm.

I've joined this forum to research 320d's of which I'm on the hunt for. Now I'm getting a little worried! My main reason for wanting a change is to find something a little better on fuel!

It's all about driving conditions and the variables we encounter.

As a benchmark, what do you get from your current car, compared to the official figures? If you are way down with the current car, you will be with most engines.

My brother in law's 120d M-sport will do near on 60mpg out of town, but in London, so so different. These motors are best at sensible speed, low load cruising.

BTW, I could get high 50's, driving around the Highlands, from a 2000 model B5 Passat 115 TDI PD estate, so high 50's from a late model 320d is really possible in the right conditions.

The specs state 34mpg for my current car and I manage 30mpg average. But if it's 100% motorway I can hit 36mpg easily.
