Hi there, anyone knows if it is required to disconect the battery for a vapor barrier fix ?

May be too late, but in case helpful, my 525iAT (wagon) has the rear floors leak problem and in researching the problem seems not to be the vapor barrier per se, but the fact that debris works it way in when the windows go down and it clogs the drain holes near door's bottom, so the water rises to point where it can seep into car.

Point is, you will want to check those drain holes whether your vapor barrrrier's damaged or not.
