i dont think they're very necessary, but if you have the money why not? haha although it still is a good $400 bucks for something hardly visible. ultimately if you want it badly enough and can afford, go for it.

I don't think H&R makes sways for Xi's...you'd better check h&R's web site

I have H&R sway bars on my e90, they are great. I love pushing the cars on exit ramps. 2 of my cars have sway... its one of the best things to put on the car if you're into performance handling

Ryan @ DTM autohaus gave me a fair deal... and my technician gave me a break on install ($230) expect other to chrge you 3-400 for labor.

The install is not for the faint of heart, its a little tricky. rear-subframe has to be drop.

swaybars are and always have been a very effective modification to improve handling. Rear swaybar is usually more difficult to install, and i too have heard that the rear subframe has to drop in the e9x chassis ... not an easy task. one thing to keep in mind is that sways firm up the ride of the car and some find it to be uncomfortable. However, most enthusiasts on the forums put performance well before comfort.
Hope that helps your decision.

I too was gonna fit sways to my 330i but, after contacting a few of the BMW specialists on this forum I was advised NOT to fit sways to cars with standard suspension, their reasoning being that it gives the stock suspension components a very hard life.

Their advice was lowered springs to reduce the centre of gravity which in turn reduces bodyroll. With lowered springs you are actually treating the problem of a high c of g, whereas with sways you are just treating the symptons.

In the end I went for 30mm lowered sports springs and new dampers and the handling has been transformed.

Hope this helps......

Sway bars dont make your car any harsher. IUt just corners flatter. That is not necessary a good thing because the car might loose traction a lot easier due to less suspension loading. Now springs and coilovers is where the harsh ride is at.

Ive seen NO ill effects since I got H&R Sways. The ride is just as smooth and the cornering a lot flatter. Never leave home without them

They do when you hit uneven bumps ... if the sways are a lot stiffer than stock.

Thats right, the xi only has the sport springs and the Coilovers available from h&r at the moment. I'll be keeping an eye out for you guys for sway bars for the xi.
