AUDIO>> Need help on starting my upgrade with MB Quart speakers
Hello world
![]() Here are the facts : - I have the most basic OEM audio setup in my E90 confort : Business Radio, 2 front door 4" speakers, 2 underseat 8" subs, and 2 rear deck 4" speakers. I find the sound very bad, huge lack of hig medium, low medium, poor bass, etc. This is my plan, changing items slowly but surely because I don't have the necessary budget to buy all in one shot : 1 - Change front door speakers 2 - Add a 4ch PnP amp to drive 2 front door + 2 subs 3 - Change 2 rear and / 2 subs I'm not looking for an ultimate sound system, no big power, just a clear sound. Somebody proposed me this : Mb Quart QWD 100 coming from a very high level set : MB Quart QSD210. No crossover filter, no tweeters, just the two 4" speakers. ![]() Item is --> QWD 100 Midrange 4" (100mm - 4 ohm) Q Series Midrange Driver The thing is that for the same budget I only can afford a very low end Alpine Kit (note that I was planing to adapt these 5" speaker on the door panel). So here are my question : - Is it possible to basically replace the OEM front door speaker with these Quart ? I don't know if impedance will match - Is it a good idea? I know that tweeters will be missing but I prefer chosing later good tweeters and crossover filters than buying bad tweeters (I prefer to stay without tweeters rather than having bad ones). At now I haven't bought anything, but I have to reply to the quart seller. Thanks by advance. |

I suggest you do a lot of reading on this board
Don't buy anything till you understand all your options.
There a lot of threads on people trying to modify the base 2010 system here and all the other systems to don't buy anything till you understand the system. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=365866 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352586 Read all the threads in which VP Electricity comments like this one http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=429136 Last edited by ctuna; 09-16-2010 at 11:34 PM. |

OUps, I forgot to mention that it's a 2006 E90
![]() Thank you for your help. I've already read all the threads before writing this. I have the base audio, being the 4x15w setup. I need somebody to confirm that 4 ohm MB Quart would replace the stock 4" speakers. I think it would work. http://www.termpro.com/articles/spkrz.html Last edited by Camembert; 09-20-2010 at 07:24 AM. |
