Ryder cup

Decided to take a day off work to watch the opening day of the Ryder cup, so I'm slightly cheesed off that the poxy rain has stopped play.

I genuinely feel for the welsh organisers of this event, they have worked endlessly for ten years to get everything spot on and then the heavens open and the whole thing looks like it could be a wash out

Seriously?
Have you never been to Wales?
Does it not always rain there?

Who, honestly, thought it would be a good idea to play a world competition of a fair-weather game in Wales in October?

You may as well have the world Yodelling championship on the moon and then cancel because "It's a bit short of air up there".

Not the same at all but that gimp who closed a lot of central Birmingham yesterday (threatened to jump off a bridge) caused the cancellation of a major event held by a client of ours.

Absolutely tonnes of work goes into organising it - what a bu66er!

Well it's a bit late to start saying they shouldn't have done - They have done it

And it's a bloody shame for all involved

My company are a preferred sponsor of the Ryder Cup...

I agree about the fact it's annoying about the rain.... Especially seeing as I am going to be.... No, I wont' say. Too cruel

Agree with OP.

sheps - think you should revise criticism to why play in UK in October, not just in Wales.....water everywhere today...

i too am confused why the ryder cup is in wales in october.
I do the london - wales run every weekend. More often than not, as soon as you get over severn bridge into wales, it pisses it down. When travelling from wales to london, weather is better when you cross the bridge into england.
Newport is a stupid location for the ryder cup. As a welshman, it is embarrasing, especially given the 10 year build up.

doubt any course in the world could have handled that amount of rain.

plus it's not the usual amount is it? something like a quarter of a months worth in one day on Friday, and looks like more of the same today.

Precisely! And the course itself is still looking fantastic, having been there yesterday - sooo lucky it wasnt today or Friday.

GO EUROPE!!

yes the yanks got mullered today, hopefully not tempting fate but it looks like the cup is coming back to Europe ....Doh!

Admittedly I am a golf fan, but even for non golf fans I think there is much more excitement watching the Ryder cup than there is the world cup (and I am a big football fan)

+1 - Well played Graeme McDowell under huge pressure!

peterg1965 - If you can't say anything positive about a great competition, why say anything at all!!
