How to disable "The Bong" ?

I have a very irritating problem.

I have problems with "doop open" indicator, even when my doors are opened and then shut Door opon indicator comes up and it is for all four doors, and i hear THE BONG.

Normally its ok but when door open indicator shows up every 5 seconds when im going to the 2h trip it is so irritating.

Is there any fuse or cabel to disengage the bong??

I have my service due in 7000km so to this moment i will not drive to BMW dealership but in the other hand im so tired of hearing BONG evry 5-15 sec.

Please help

P.S Sorry for my english - it is not perfect

If you have iDrive you can adjust the volume level of the sound. Not sure if you can turn it completely off, but you can definitely lower the volume on it. Not sure if this is possible without iDrive though.

Do you have Logic7 system? If so press the Call up settings key, middle one looks like a musical note, and it's under gong. If not in the Us models I do not believe its adjustable without Logic 7.

The first thing I would check is if your driver's side door is getting closed completely. I think there is a little button that gets pressed when the door is closed all of the way. It may be faulty or something may be in the way of the door. Otherwise, I would think it is a defect that would be covered under warranty.

Under audio settings you can lower the gong volume, even on base stereo system.

u change the bong volume as if u were gonna change the bass/trebel/etc... its the very last one. I think u need to use the right hand knob to get to the end.

On the hifi system, both rear and front outputs are full range. The only difference is that the front output contains "THE BONG" as well as GPS turn by turn navigation (which is not a big deal for you I guess)

You might want to look into splitting the rear signal going to your amp and not using the front signal? Do you have tweeters?

I'm not %100 sure but I believe the gong can be disable by reprogramming the computer, which can be done at a dealership for a fee.

My car without iDrive has a volume control fro the gong in the audio settings, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't do anything.

The early E9x's (2007 MY and before) did not have an option to adjust the "gong" volume, and we got a different gong type as well. Sounds like you need to check the door catches first, and then may have to bring into dealer unfortunately.

Works in my car. I think the volume has a static lower limit that you cannot go below. If you turn it up as a test it gets very loud.
