ROAD TAX
Why cant we just abolish it and put a extra few pence on fuel ????
what odds does it make with all the NPR cameras etc. I think if you dont tax your car it is hardly a hanging offence is it . I would consider it a bit like being conservative with the truth on a tax return |

I'm dreaming of the return to 30 year old cars becoming tax exempt again!!!
I pay £205 road tax, yet only £100 classic insurance limited to 3000 miles on the 924. Won't hold my breath. |

Conservatives brought it in last time in power. Labour abolished almost immediately they came in. All cars pre 1972 are still exempt as they were 30+ years old when the fuckwit Lefties changed the rules. They maintained their exception. All other 30 year old cars since then still pay.

we already pay too much tax on fuel, in france the diesel is £1-25 a gallon cheaper and they dont pay any road tax, their road surfaces are in general as good as ours are bad plus there is many more miles of them also not many of their roads are tolled. as usual we are being stiched up.

The X3's road tax is due in December - £405 for a 3.0d - production a few months later reduced it to £205ish but I'm stuck in the highest bracket - very fucking annoying (but I knew this when I bought the car).

I was joking scooba.
![]() But, when it comes to road tax I do agree that Labour were a bunch of feckless robbing bastards. The CO2 banding system they introduced is unbelieveably stupid.

if you remember this all started with a hate campaign against 4x4's, this subsided when gordy brown had no option (Joke!) but to raise the car tax on them. what he didnt announce was that almost every other decent engined car fell into this bracket as well. personally i think this was a hate campaign sponsored by labour to put up taxes and make it look like it had no option. the last time they did something like this was to get handguns banned, another colossal waste of taxpayer's money, so Will is correct bloody labour again.
