I <3 java, but I have to say that Microsoft VC++.net offers pretty fast development.

Shiv, talked to you on the phone before you were leaving for the track. This is what I came up with in about an hour or so. Many features that can be implemented, such as, but not limited to:
  • Real Time Charting/Data Acquistion from a serial/usb connection
  • Animate saved files to playback

I won't go further with this, but calculations for distance, and dyno are a matter of being able to just manipulate the #'s. Oh yea, it has "smart" data capturing. Meaning if you move RPM to another column, it'll still know where it is (a request that shiv said would be neat.)

This app is deployable to all Windows equipped computers.

Voila..

Awesome, the competition is heating up . I wonder if Shiv expected so many responses.

My entry thus far...

Hello... Here's a little something I did last night, so far it's just for acceleration / speed, but all my equations are in place for the other stuff (except printing), so I should have a working demo with more caps in the next day or two. The slider determines how far ahead and behind the algorithms look in order to normalize data, and yes it changes the graph in real time. Also every single data point has a rollover info box (which i plan to format to include time, speed, distance) It can run locally through a Flash Projector or in the future via the web.

low sensitivity

high sensitivity

Just noticed I forgot the x axis labels... oh well.

I love the graphics! What programming package are you using to program this?

Mac Compliant

It would be great if this was not limited to PC's. Java and Flash would support a dual platform solution for those of us that use MACs.

Opposite of what is being asked for...

Hey guys,

I have been lurking around here for some time now. I am a 300ZX Twin-Turbo guy and have always loved the M3. Now I'm starting to love the 335i as well, modulo its open differential.

This is exactly the opposite of what is being asked for. I wrote an interactive web-based software to compute acceleration from torque, weight, drag coefficient, etc. Sorry if you regard this as a shameless plug but I think folks here will like it and hopefully will get some ideas for their software. If Shiv could send me the .csv I'd also participate in this contest.

You can try out the software here.

The software takes dyno chart data and other data such as weight, drag coefficient, drivetrain ratios, etc. as inputs and computes the acceleration. Multiple cars can be compared.

Here are some teaser comparisons between stock and XEDE 335i.

Power and Torque vs RPM (torque is the input)

Now let's put the two cars next to each other.

Gap vs. time

Speed vs. time

Acceleration vs. time

Distance vs. time

The software performs several calculations and optimizations under the hood. The calculations are amazingly accurate but feel free to send me thoughtful criticism/feedback.

Enjoy
- Puneet

Old thread but curious who won and if the current Vishnu PDE Reader S/W is the one that was developed here? Maybe I missed it being mentioned elsewhere
