The rear does break loose on corners. You also loose traction control. I still don't know why they wouldnt' make this user controllable if its just a fuse. RWD is the right way to drive. |

Yes let's get this to happen. Vendors I will buy an LSD for this car if we can get it RWD selectable. What I would give to get this car to power oversteer...

This does sound cool but it will not be like a 4WD system where you can disengage front hubs. You'd still be pushing around (rotating) the entire powerless front half of the xDrive system, it would only be disconnected at the front driveshaft out of the transfer case. I'm not sure all that metal is meant to be whipped around that way for very long. Imagine all the twisting forces going on inside the front axles and diff that are normally damped out with power application from the TC.

On the 325xi, it is fuse 20 (5 amps).
Pulling it causes the wipers to turn on until the car starts, which then they shut off and are unuseable. The speedo is also non-functional when the fuse is out. The power makes the back end step out on every corner, unlike the awd controlled grip feel. Bump for shiv and terry to jump on this.

I am honestly thinking about unscrewing my whinshield wipers...putting them in the trunk...driving around with the fuse pulled.
My last two cars had no traction control either...its not that big a deal if you're careful...just can't do dumb stuff. |

Just heard from my BMW buddy and he said to immediately tell everyone that by pulling the fuse you are seriously causing a significant and immediate wear on your center differential and that they have seen numerous problems due to the .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .kidding.

OK I am confirming that fuse #20 for my '06 330xi disables the AWD.
Things I noticed: 1) Errors, obviously...see video below. 2) No control of wipers....once you start the car, they stay on until you turn off the car/replace the fuse. 3) Auto shut off of the turn signals is disabled....3-click and regular turn signals do not automatically turn off after coming out of turn. 4) Speedometer is disabled. 5) Gas gauge fluctuates. It's hard to see in the video but my gas gauge keeps slowly going from 0 to about 1/2. I have a 1/4 tank in my car now. Here is a video showing all the errors: lol Oh and the RPMs are correct. I was just going down a hill so I didn't upshift. |

![]() Lol I might make a homemade switch for this until a tuner comes up with a product. Im loving the RWD a little too much, my rear tire had some tread stripped off ![]() I can spin thru first and second in the 325xi (auto) which is awesome. If you shift around 6600, you're right in second gear's powerband
