Anyone else think that the 335i is slow?

I bought my 335i-6 with an intake and jb3 and i really dont think its that fast.

I thought that having a high 12 second/ low 13 second car would be way way faster than it is.

Maybe its just so smooth and quite that it does not play in to the mental game of what a fast car should be.

Anyone else think this way. or am i smoking rocks. Dont get me wrong the car pulls but does not seem super fast

I think the car is extremely fast for what I use it for. Do I wish it was faster sometimes? Yes. But, I normally just drive in the city. I do notice that at higher speeds 100MPH+ it takes longer to get to a higher speed, but I knew that the 335i had low highend torque. Most of the roads where I'm at don't allow over 75MPH anyhow and its usually not safe anyway. I love my car! Wish I had some tunes like you did though!

I was mainly talking like 0-100 MPH, im not big on top speed, just like to get up to speed fast.

It does not give you the kick in the pants as the e39 540i did or the e39 m5, yet at the same time its faster than both of those cars.

Maybe its just hard to get used to.

Also these cars seem to have 2 speeds, slow or fast. Its hard to drive these cars moderatly fast

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a lot feel this way....especially if you're used to a V8 or AWD...it's just smooth speed....plus as you get more used to it....it will get better...

Have you played with the JB3 settings? Do you have a data logging cable or CAN tool? You know these cars are famous for getting boost leaks as well......as well as other things....

Yes, I do think the 335i stock is slow. After I had the Power Kit installed, the car is now a bit like how I have imagined it would be from factory. But it's still not enough of what I would consider "fast".

Mine is extremely fast, it would blow the doors off my E46 M3, (0 to 100,100 to 200 etc. I know all the "M3 is faster on a track crap)

I think you forgot to plug in one of the JB3 connectors.

Slow in D. Responsive enough to be okay in DS.

I find with my 335, it doesnt feel that fast when I drive it. When i get my brother to drive and I sit in the passenger seat, my dynobutt kicks in and the car feels a lot stronger. Even with the chip the power is very linear compared to my friends chipped 135 but it is a lot lighter than the vert.

I think you only realise the power of the car when you see how the car pulls gaps against others. especailly above sea level in a place like Johannesburg(1700m above sea level) where all N/A cars loose a lot of power.

Wow I thought I was the only one. My first post (my first BMW). I feel the same way.
1- the car feels faster as a passenger
2- the car feels faster on narrow uneven country roads, on smooth wide it's to smooth to notice how fast your going
3- the car is WAY to easy to drive, I guess that's what cars are now a days, everything is done for you... Ex: "clutch delay" really?
Like I said in MY post I want M5 feeling in my car without all the nos/meth stuff

Yes, now consider how many camry's are on the road compared to how many ferrari's. The bottom line is it's faster than 95% of the cars you'll ever encounter on the road. To the OP, I think you may just be used to the speed so it doesn't make an impression on you anymore. Try driving a rental kia for a week (as I've had to do before) and you'll quickly appreciate just how fast you car really is.

My car hauls ass. After awhile driving it I get used to the power and speed, but then I go drive my fiance's Corolla... as soon as I get back in the 335 I start grinning from ear to ear, experiencing the power from a clean slate. It also helps when I have someone new in the car for their first 'experience', and all they keep saying is "holy shitttt". I'm 100% stock at the moment, but hopefully that will change come next Spring.

trust me.........i think about this alll the timeeeeeeeee.!! the car is a very fast car when racing alongside another car...but on your own when cruising...the exhaust is totally silent...even my brothers z4 2.2 sounds louder and deeper when cruising. but like many say get a tune etc im still not convinced that will change my perception..

I think a tune will make my car faster but wont make much different in the city in which i drive all the time..maybe 335i isnt for ppl living in a crowded narrow roaded cities...but instead for grand canyons and autobahn type of roads hmm

just my 2pence worth

I think its a quick car for being a basic sports sedan and it keeps me entertained. Definitely fast around corners, that's for sure.

That being said, I had a Cobra with 570whp before the Bimmer, so it was quite a step down in the speed/power department.

Depends on your perspective. My 335i is my commuter. The last 2 cars before it in this role were a CTS-V and an M5. Sitting next to my 335i in the garage are 2 cars with well over 600hp each. By those comparos, it's definitely not a quick or fast car to me. BUT, why do I love it? For a commuter, I get 25-29 mpg in mixed driving regularly. I get tremendous handling, convertible wise nothing comes close out there in handling, and I've had many. It's very safe, and considering all of the above, it is "fast" for what it is. You have mods that should give a little extra fun to it.

But, good recommendations & points in previous posts. Do a passenger seat test, or find another 335 and do a roll-on with it, or a dyno if you want, just to make sure you're getting the ponies you should be. I've been fooled in the passed myself, thinking a car was under-powered & testing revealed it was righ on the money, and my butt-dyno is just a bit spoiled.
