thats funny they haven't included the 2011 N55's because they use the SAME EXACT HPFP in them.

2x

Can someone explain this? Haven't they been replacing them already under warranty (and extended warranty) when they fail?

Article mentions nothing about an "updated" part...

They're replacing it with a brand new model that is guaranteed not to have the same problem. And this time, they really mean it.

N55 hasn't been around long enough for them to admit there's a problem... but we've read the stories already

My buddy that works at BMW confirmed that the 933 is the latest and greatest. He said you can tell on the part number stamped on the actual fuel pump whether its a re-manufactured pump or a brand new one. He told me how to tell but i forgot It was some number that was lazer printed on the actual hpfp, not the part number on the box.

I got a new 933 pump according to him and he said the version i just got came out in august/sept. Not sure how accurate this is but he changes hpfp all day so i would think he knows what he's talking about.

Here are some pics of the pump that i got (this one was going into a 535)

This really isn't that big of a deal since BMW had already extended the warranty on the HPFP to 10yrs/120k miles.

This is huge... think about all the owners who have not complained to BMW or have not received a new HPFP since they bought their cars (40k according to the press release). I mean folks on here have been on top of it... but for average joe, its a victory.

Thank you "Good morning America"

Exactly! I wonder what kind of stipulations they're gonna have on who qualifies for the new one:

(my guess is....)
If you've had yours replaced more than 3x, then you're first in line. If you've never had any problems (yet), then you'll just have to wait 'til your current model goes out - then you get the upgrade.

with a recall they replace the pump once. If it fails again you are sol. i hope they maintain the 10 yr 120 k warranty and not replace it with this recall.

Unfortunately, this won't do a thing to fix my clattering wastegate limp mode issues.

So basically, with the exception that's it's called a recall, it's just regular software update and pump replacements. Same story. Also, no recall on '11 Z4 sDrive35is or 335is?

How does this affect those of us that have had the fuel pump replaced already? Since it was replaced with basically the same pump, everything still applies, correct?

I highly doubt that this new pump is gonna work without failure. Maybe it will go longer before failing, but in no way will it have fixed it.
