Radar Jammers/ Detectos really do work...

Today I was driving up 405 Northbound (in Seattle) and hit a speed trap of motorcycle cops...

I was doing at least 75 mph in a 60 when my brand new Escort SRX radar went crazy with a laser alert... It took me a couple of seconds before I even new what was really happening (I'm not used to hearing the laser alert go off). Sure enough I look up and a cop is staring me down with his radar gun. I can only assume that my jammers worked, as I was definately speeding at the time... I quickly slowed down and turned off the jamming device on the Escort SRX, and drove by...

Unfortunately, the Corvette behind me wasn't so lucky and got nailed...

Just felt like sharing this story for some reason...

so your laser jammer works, if you had a radar jammer the cop wouldnt have stared at you he would have pulled you over and hauled you off to jail

i didnt know they built laser jammers into detectors though i know you can buy them seperate

i hate speed traps though, worse i ever came across was a single black SUV parked in one of those median turnaround spots with his trunk thing open, after i got closer they had what i could only assume was a laser/radar gun mounted on a fing tripod and about 6 motorcycle cops hidden behind the SUV

radar jammers are illegal and dont work.

radar/laser Detectors DO work.

Laser jammers or shifters haven't been proven. (but are still legal, for now)

Most radar jammers made available to the public will do nothing. But there are some that do work. You can jam radar. The problem is that police monitor the return frequency of their radar guns and can immediately tell when someone is jamming.

Radar jammers do work, I did the research before making my purchase. Below are a few videos demonstrating the technology in action (there are tons of similar videos seachable on youtube)

Laser Jammers are only illegal in a handful of states, fortunately in Washington they are legal. Even if the cop suspected you of having a laser jammer, there is nothing they can do about it... The great thing about the SRX is you can turn off the Laser Jamming AKA Shifters and the cop will get a reading so it doesn't create too much suspicion. 9 times out of 10 the cop will just think his gun was slow to get a reading becuase he misaimed... You obviously turn the jamming off after you have a chance to slow down. BTW - there is no return frequency on laser, it doesn't work like radar... Radar doesn't get jammed...

Cost was probably about $1000.00 with installation. I bought the SRX online for about $600 or so and installation was about $400. The installers placed the the display unit where my ash tray was... The ash tray slides out and creates a perfect space for the radar display. If I were ever to be pulled over and don't care to have the officer see my radar, I can just close the door / cover beneath the radio where the ash tray sits. The jammers and radar detection piece was installed behind the mesh grills under the front bumper. There is a rear jammer that screws in with your licesnes plate frame... Very clean installation.

you know instead of paying a grand or so on a lasser jammer you could just hang a cd from your rear view. Ofcourse you can also get a ticket for that too if a cop sees it.

Where'd you get the SRX installed at? It's something I've been thinking about for the long trips I have to make to Spokane.

What's this about CD hanging from your rear view mirror?!?

having a CD hanging anywhere in your car will not do anything... it's one of the many myths in the laser jamming/avoiding area...

I had an installer named Mark do it at Stereotomy in Issaquah. He did the same system on two of my buddies cars (996 turbo, and a E55). Did a great job on all three of our cars and was much cheaper than the typical Car Toys or Magnolia route....

Yep, rader jamming is possible. Only police & military are allowed to use it.
Fighter planes have them as well.

So, if you did get caught using one, you'd be in a lot of trouble.

I have an Escort ZR3 Shifter laser jammer, and it works all the time.
You need to make sure the diodes are correctly positioned.

Police can also tell when they're being jammed by laser...new laser guns show an "E06 Jamming Error" on the guns..

Radar Jammers do not work, particularly the ones sold by Rocky Mountain Radar

Two good web sites for Radar/Laser detector info:

http://www.radartest.com/

There are two types of laser jammers, passive and active. Only Active has been proven to work. The Blinder Extreme is considered the best. The only passive device that works is stealth coating called Veil.

Also, it's a federal offense to even attempt to jam RADAR.

Based on some Internet research it appears that you need a two pronged approach to Laser. A Laser Jammer such as Blinder or Passport SRX and Veil coating. Also it helps to not have a shiny reflective license plate frame.

I had the ZR3 shifters on my old WRX and they saved me a few times. I love the looks on the gunners' faces. Hehehe!
