Any musicians here?

Any musicians here? I used to take piano lessons, but didn't keep that up... 3 years ago at the advanced age of 41 I started taking violin lessons, despite general opinion that if you don't start very young, you really can't hope for much... That's OK, though, I'm not looking to play in an orchestra or anything like that... It's fun, but sometimes frustrating. It'd be nice if I found people in my area at a similar level to play with, other strings. My husband's a natural musician, a bass player, but can play nearly anything he picks up. My older daughter's a band geek (self described), has played flute since 6th grade, is a senior now. Younger daughter's doing the piano lesson thing.

Percussionist, though I don't play an instrument as a profession.

I play anything from drumset, to latin percussion, to marching percussion, to classical (tympani, etc). At one point I was planning on going into music for a living, but decided on medicine instead.

Its still nice to have something to do when I'm not busy

I love percussion, it looks like so much fun... my husband inherited a drum kit from someone, but no one really plays it, it just gets goofed around on sometimes, mainly takes up space in our house. I even bought one of those "Drumming for Dummies" type books at one point but haven't made the time to try to learn. I know, though, a real teacher would be needed. But right now it's hard enough to try to find time to learn one instrument.

I saw a story on 60 Minutes a few years back on Evelyn Glennie, she's pretty amazing. http://www.evelyn.co.uk/

Wow Phoenix! I've been trying to learn that solo in The Way It Is for years now! Wow I really have to tip my hat to you . I've been playing 14 years now, and I like to play mostly classical...Beethoven, Debussy, Schubert, Chopin ...well, maybe not Chopin. I think that will take another 14 years

I also play bass guitar, but I sold my 2001 Gibson SG-Z to put towards the E90. The neck was bowed anyway.

I have always wished that I could play piano. One of my favorite pianists is Chick Corea. I don't know if there are any jazz fans here or not.
