Think it looks good mate (a bit too clean though for a Landy ).

You've got more extras than I've got in the E46; I'd kill for botty-warmers right now . You're car is positively futuristic.

Feel a little sorry for the saleman, bit like when I got the 350Z R'ster, the saleman had to drive the wifes 206cc (1.6) all the way back down to Bournemouth - must have taken a while.

Cheers Rog,

Sytners Leicester also delivered the 335d and took our Astra back in p/x (1.9 CDTI 150 estate) but some muppet crashed into the back of it on the way home! Not a write off but a fair bit of damage caused and thankfully not our problem - doh! Leicester is about the same distance as Surrey but then I guess it's a lot easier in a 335d/Astra than a Landy/Jimny!

Sytners do LRs but didn't have what we wanted in stock.

Drove one of these off road the other day.

Truly impressive off road performance given the lack of electronic gadgetry. The anti stall is incredible. To the extent that the damn thing drives itself.

The seats don't move back enough though! OK for people with short legs.

Yes, but I'm still genuinely interested in the answer. Have they licensed hotwire technology from Ford?

I've had 3 Landys - a SIII 109, a SIIa 88 and a 89 plated 90. Love them and will have another sometime soon - would still have the 90 if the ex hadn't taken me to the cleaners!

If you accept they're basic and don't drive great you'll love it. It'll do everything you've listed and do it well. My 90 ran through snow that stopped everything else around here and allowed me to take roads that other cars wouldn't consider. With the right tyres, it'll cope in the most extreme off road conditions, although be careful with the 110 - they can get grounded on severe humps!

Spend some cash on a steering guard and diff protection if you're going offroad - damage can get expensive!

Sorry xenon - I thought it was a pi55 take about it needing hotwiring!!

TBH I'm not sure but I will find out. LR were Ford once weren't they? I guess they picked up a license then. Will be bloody handy anyway as will the heated bum warmers. This one has half leather too - LOL!

Jon - nice set you've had there! I will definitely look at underbody protection. Any idea who does it best?

When I was a Geotec Engineer we had to do very extreme off roading to get to test sites - there was always a JCB to drag us out if needed (I can proudly say I never needed one!). They all had extra protection, were jacked up to carry more weight and had narrower tyres to cut into mud. It was a very fun part of the job - shame the pay was so laughable!

Wife also passed her test in a 90 pick up - got to drive it a lot (met her when she was 17!) and loved that too.

Anyway my waffling basically means - can't wait to get it!

I got my steering guard from Rebel 4x4, they also did diff protectors. The steering guard came with towing eyes which was an advantage (I'd get some JATE rings for the rear - the LR towing rings aren't up to pulling your Defender out of mud).

I'd also suggest getting rid of thes side steps and fitting rock sliders if you want to do extreme offroading. The steps help to protect the sides, but will bend if you hit something that doesn't move!

My 90 also had an 1" lift (anymore and you need to extend the brake lines and prop shafts), big M&S tyres and a 200TDi engine. It was very capable offroad and I was sorry to see it go.

I'm borrowing my mates 110 Defender this winter and hoping the new wife falls in love with them too. I can then scratch an ever present itch! Can't see me ever having anything as shiny and special as yours - I always use and abuse them! Quite fancy an ex MOD Wolf 90.

Jon - what strikes me immediately is how friendly and enthusiastic LR owners are! Makes a change from some of the miserable BMW ones

Not sure if I need rock sliders yet but steering and diff guards looking like an essential purchase. Are they silly money?

You'd probably get steering and diff protection for around 100 all in and, if you know how to use a spanner, you can fit it in minutes.

Whilst we're on about the underneath, make sure you get it properly cleaned and then Wax Oiled - it'll cost you about 500, but will last years and protect the chassis (even new ones are prone to the red metal mite!)

LR owners are some of the nicest people I've met, the only problem is getting them to shut up about them sometimes! You'll pretty soon be waving to every other LR driver on the road too.

That looks like the route my wife takes dropping my 'little darling' off at pre-school every day in the X3 - piece of piss .

Unless you are going to do some serious off roading or need it for your job, I really dont see the point of the Defender unless it is some kind of statement you are trying to make. Much more refined, practical, faster, better looking alternatives are available.

Can this thing do "propah" off roaring matt? My mate has an old skool type
thing that does off road. Will it be capable of that kind of thing?!

We are
Strange that they retain value better than almost any other car and are used the World over. What statement might we be trying to make? We live in rural Cornwall, not London. We'll need it all the time from work in the garden (5 acres, much if it woodland) to towing the boat up tricky beaches to just green laning for fun.
Yes there are. But we didn't want any of them.

Cheers Anneka!

Carlos - check that vid. That Landy hasn't had much modding done to it at all. It'll do the most proper off roading of any car on sale today! Can't wait to test it out.

Will add a bit of underbody protection and it'll do that kind of stuff fine.
