Get the odd peregrine here once in a while - much smaller than that - just over pigeon sized.

You would think that.....until you see an Eagle and realise just how much bigger they are.

Mull is a good area for them. Lake District also usually has a few.

Its definitely not a Kite - their heads are more grey.

Chris - seen a golden eagle in Scotland and sea eagles in Oz. Some buzzards do get close in size.

Well likewise seen Golden Eagle in Scotland. In my experience when you are trying to find them, you spend lots of time looking at Buzzards saying to yourself "is that an Eagle", and then when you finally see one, its just so very different you feel a little silly!

Chris - it's a bit tricky as they also say "often confused for an eagle" (for buzzard) too - basically I just proved the sum total of naff all.

One website says 66-90" for a golden eagle and another says 45-60 for a buzzard so yes, a Golden eagle is a fair bit bigger. The one I saw was a fair way away! Sea Eagles were big too - saw them pretty close up.

If we all post names of birds which it isnt, we will eventually find which one it IS. So to start I would suggest that it is not an Ostrich.

I think it might be a Lappet-faced Vulture.

But I could be wrong.

100% a Buzzard!

One lives close to my work, some size but Eagles are bigger and as said, when you see an Eagle, you'll know for sure it's an Eagle!

Shame to see such a cool bird, pan bread

Thanks Matt, I always wondered if objects that are far away are smaller than ones that are closer.
